Ok, so I just got a new F3SV-B1, and the webcam is acting up.

    Here is the problem:
    1. If I use any program that uses the webcam, e.g., built in Asus Life Frame 2, camera screen saver, it doesn't work.
    2. Not only that, but you can't close those applications even with ctrl-alt-del
    3. shutting down the system hangs the system, i.e., the sytstem never shuts down all the way
    4. I've reinstalled the drivers, uninstalled norton, even reloaded windows and the drivers
    5. Here is the catch, though, if the camera light is on, right when i start up, then if i quickly start life frame it will load up, if it isn't on then problems occur.

Any suggestions, on how to fix this problem, and/or "manually" turn on the webcam then I can start the software. If I can do that perhaps it will work.

I checked device manager, and no conflicts.

    Thanks.

Any Takers, I don't won't to have to quickly start up any webcam software to be able to use it later on during my session

If you see the camera in your device manager, then the camera should work since you loaded all drivers and such for the device. IFupdating drivers and lifeframe doesn't work, then chances are you have a bad camera. Can you use the camera by clicking on it in My Computer? If not, then your camera needs to be replaced.

It could be a hardware problem, but like I said the camera works if I manage to quickly open up a software program that uses the camera such as LifeFrame right as Vista is starting, and when the camera light is on, but if I am unable to do that I can't use the camera. It seems like it may be some software that may be turning off the camera once vista fully boots? I don't know.

I see the device in the device manager with no conflicts, do not see it in my computer, though, or under camera or scanners.

Is there anyway to see the order of when processes are loaded as Vista is booting up, perhaps I can then see what is causing the problem? Also anyway to disable and/or change the order of how these processes are loaded up.

oh, vista has known issues with lifeframe and camera usage. i think there is an updated lifeframe you can get, check the site...i remember fixing a similar problem with vista in a G1. in that case i recovered vista and updated with a revision on lifeframe and everything worked fine.
