Hey everyone, it's been awhile, but I've dug up my account in desperate need of some help.

So I started having to use the webcam on my Asus m51Sn. I upgraded to Windows 7, but had no problems initially. However, the webcam was working terribly, so I went to the Asus website to "update" the driver. Now, my webcam doesn't work at all. Even worse, it appears that the hardware ID listed in Device Manager has changed. It used to be one of the DMax ones (I think), now it's USB\VID_0C45&PID_62C0&REV_0100&MI_00
    USB\VID_0C45&PID_62C0&MI_00
, which isn't listed at all on the Asus website, or anywhere it seems.

Is there a way to change the hardware ID back so Windows will recognize it correctly. Or is there something simpler I missed. I've tried installing drivers with the have disk method, tried Windows 7 drivers for the same webcam model, etc. and am at wits' end.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe the problem is because Asus uses different webcam manufactures for the M51Sn notebook. Try rolling back to the previous driver under device manager and see if that helps. If not, you can also perform a system restore back to before you've installed the new driver.

Thanks for the response. Yeah, I tried every driver, XP and Vista, under compatibility. As well, I performed a system restore, which didn't help matters. I can't roll back the driver since it is already listed as the default Microsoft one. ARGH!!
