So i just got new U1E

first problem with the battery, it didnt charge, I plugged for hours for hours in 3 days. I just then prepared to claimed the waranty when suddenly it charged.

Ok i was happy, then now the battery keep discharging even it is off. everytime i turn on the battery lower by 10-15% since last shut down. is it normal?
one more thing, according to RMclock the max capacity is hire then the designed capacity, how is it possible?

It doesn't seem normal. How much higher is the designed cap? If the difference it's small, that part is normal.

But overall it seems you have a buggy battery.

Before doing anything else, try calibrating it (there is an option in the BIOS). If it's weird after that, it's probably best to just RMA it and not waste any more time.

This is concerning, I am no expert on Asus and their notebooks (but interested in buying one in the future). But now, not only do I hear of their notebooks generally having poor battery life than the competition, but also having battery calibration errors, etc. :(

Really? I hope they get it sorted out when they roll out their next-gen notebooks as I am considering them as my Montevina ultraportable. I love my Vaio but Asus has some nice benefits as well.

Don't worry too much only some specific models are affected. Here is a pretty complete list: V6J V1J V1S R1F R1E.

Otherwise if you have a bad battery usually replacing it does the job.

Does it also discharge if you keep it on the shelf (i.e. not in the computer?)

I've seen e.g., batteries discharging while Vista hibernates, for some reason. There is a thread in the HP forum or Hardware forum, I don't remember now.

This is bad, I had really wanted to buy the U1E but then was "forced" to get the TZ, I was unhappy at first but now it looks like I made the right choice.

had played with TZ for sometmes before I plunged into U1,
it almost perfect, but i guess nothing is perfect

I dont know which brand to buy now,
    my old toshiba burnt MOBO,
    compaq ok but really slow
    MY acer to many problem

my best purchase in fact second hand dell x1 cost me 600$, no problem so far, sturdy and great battery life

I removed the battery, kept it for two days and today no discharge whatsoever.

So the probelm is not my battery but there is device which eating my battery.

Did some research in net in this is not un common probs. the only available solutiion is removing the battery.

yeah I mentioned that battery-eating Vista hibernation thread, please look for it.

Does it also eat battery when it's shutdown (not hibernating?)

Some device is not powered down that's quite clear.

Could you post a link? Or if the fix is in the BIOS, the # of the BIOS? As it is now the post is not very informative... thx
