I'm beginning to hate my W3v. I dont know if its the w3v i should be hating or just Windows XP. For the first week everything was running smoothly, then everything started slowing down - windows freezing, programs stopped responding etc. So I uninstalled Norton Internet Security which came with the W3v and put on Pc Cillin Internet Security Instead. I did this becuase a while back i had a trojan on my desktop that Norton couldnt pick up but PC Cillin did. On my desktop I also noticed that my computer ran quicklier with PC Cillin then with Norton. Anywway, once I put PC Cillin on, the w3v started running even worse. So I ended up putting back Norton. I did a spyware sweep and cleaned out some spyware but my W3v still isn't up to par. This is really frusterating consdering its only about 2-3 weeks old! I dont want to have format, after i soent 2 day installing all the stuff I need to work with and transferring my files. So anyway I was wondering what security software does everyone use and does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Also, I still haven't been able to collebrate the colors on the W3v correctly. Anyone know the return policy on the W3v ~pulls hairs out~

One of the best imo is Kerio Personal Firewall.

ZoneAlarm is another very good free firewall.

I like AVG Free for Antivirus.

I'm using Kerio for my firewall now (seems pretty good), but might change to either Zonealarm or something else.

Hmm... use Mozilla Firefox instead of Internet Explorer and avoid (the temptation to go to) porn sites :D

I use avast! free antivirus... although AVG Free is good as well.

I don't even have a firewall on my comp and it's been trojan/spyware free for some time now.

I have never used a firewall, until I started using the router, but I disabled it since it is picky as hell. Still not using one, and I've never gotten a virus/trojan ever, or at least, I don't think so :p

But I've using eZTrust for a while, seems ok I guess...

There is a no lying policy on this forum
    Hehe.. just teasing.

Anyway, do you have a LAN cable plugged in while installing Windows? I found out a while back that if I had the LAN cable in while installing Windows... it would install spyware/trojans/worms DURING the initial install! Man that really pissed me off...

Hmm... do you use Outlook Express? Or maybe it's one of your programs that is causing this slowdown that makes it seem as if there's spyware.

Try disabling some of Windows services.

I also use zone alarm and avg antivirus... both run smoothly... I tried the free sygate firewall, but had to kick it again, because everytime I switched on wireless for a computer to computer network it went nuts. I.e. the sygate process went to 97% processor usage and you could barely shut it down (mouse moved very slowly and it took a long time for klicks to take effect) Anyone else had this problem?

    I have a Firewall router(Netgear) + Avast + ZoneAlarm + Spyware blaster + AdAware + Spybot.

I think I have covered all bases, no one can dare to enter my computers :D :D

Oye guys, chill out. Reviving posts is unnecessary unless something is added that may help, which in this case, lapboy is inviting others in LOL! ;)

Either way - chill out.
