Need some help here, there are just too many models of Asus and I don't want to miss any.

What are my options if these are what I want:
    1. Core 2 Duo
    2. Integrated video or low-end dedicated (no gaming)
    3. thin, no more than 1.2" with optical drive
    4. 13.3" WXGA or 14" WXGA+
    5: Budget: $1500-$1600
    6: Location: USA

    Thanks!

What budget did you have in mind, and where do you live?
Edit: some/most are smaller than 14''...

14'' and ultra compact... well W3 is an option as stated, A8 and S62 too but those aren't as slim as those stated below...

    ASUS W3 - 14.1''

    ASUS W7 - 13.3''

    ASUS W5 - 12.1''

    ASUS U5 - 12''

I was going to suggest the system in my signature without the X1600. It is called the S96F I believe. It should come with the integrated Intel GMA 950 for graphics instead of the X1600. However it is 15.4". You can try the Z62F or the Z35F, but I do not know if they have been refreshed to Core 2.

    Ensemble:
    W7J - 13.3" / T5500 1.66Ghz / Geforce 7400 Go / 1.142 - 1.453"
    A8FM - 14" / T5500 1.66Ghz / Intel GMA950 Integrated / 1.37 - 1.47"

    Built-On:
    Z35F - 13.3" / Pick Your Own / Intel GMA950 / ~1.5"
    Z96F - 14" / Pick Your Own / Intel GMA950 / 1.0-1.4"

As far as I know, the U5 is discontinued and was never available in North America.

There's a lot of models in that price bracket... If you really don't plan to game, something with integrated graphics might give better battery life, but some of the dedicated models like the W3J are darn sexy.

Personally, I would go with either the W7J or the Z35F, but I'm a bit biased as both contain styling and design elements similar to my Z33 ;)

Empulse laid out the complete current Asus sub-14" lineup. The best match that fulfills all of your criteria, however, if you must have the Merom chip would be the Z35, which can be viewed at BTOTech's website. If you can live with the CoreDuo Yonah processor, then the W7 would be a better fit because it benefits from being an Ensemble model chassis.

Few notebooks anywhere have a 1.2 max unit height with an integrated optical drive, however, if that's the dealbreaker for you, and the only sub-14" Asus unit with an XGA+ screen right now is the newly refreshed A8Js - everything else is XGA. Still, most people will say that once you get to 14" and below, the XGA resolution is adequate.

    The new W7J's have Core 2 Duo / Merom - it's a T5500 1.66Ghz.

I love the rounded edge of the Z33, looks like a Mac Book

I'm a big fan of the flat touchpad myself. It does exactly what it was designed to do - keeps crud from building up around the touchpad - and it looks nice and sleek. The aluminum surround is also very resistant to discoloration. That was one of the small details that sold me on the model.

I went with charcoal grey on my Z33, so it wouldn't look like a Mac Book ;)

Buying again, I think I'd get the W7J and trade some battery life for the Go7400 and the on-order customization for the Ensemble-ness of the unit.
