Here, I took a photo of my ASUS; since some months these black patches on the lower part of the laptop have been growing.

I thought it's dirt, but it doesn't wash away.
Could it be something burnt inside?

    What should I do.

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi.

is it not a reaction to the oil in your skin?, marking the metal.

It looks like it`s in the parm rest area.

    regards

    John.

Happened to me too with my M9V, mainly because the graphics card is under the right palm rest which caused the notebook to heat up when playing games, heat + hand = sweat (for me anyway) so there was a slight color change for me too, lucky the palm rests on my notebook are black anyway so it just turned a darker shade of black.

You didn't notice this happen over time?

Go to the Notebook Cosmetic Modifications area. The mad guys there would think it is pretty cool and try and figure out a way to get it looking like a cow or something all over!!

Those black patches are a manufacturing flaw. Contact ASUS and ask them to replace the case.

    a cow? LOL

Definitely paint wear and unfortunately not covered under ASUS warranty as this is 100% cosmetic and likely user based.

Something I have done in the past, you can put those small rectangle PDA peel off screen protectors in those palm areas. Now where did I put those....

    It's Dupli-Color Spray paint for import cars :D :
The paint will last very long time, we tried to use screw driver to scratch it and it's not easy to make the paint come off.

except you can't milk it. :D

Id like to paint my c90 insides black instead of grey but I do not think my masking skills are up to par for the small holes where the led's are or the finle parts around the screen, id only paint if I could take it apart and have only the body with no insides.

Vicious, if you want to paint it you do need to tear it apart, use tape to tape it for the place you don't want to paint, see the webcam area? we use tape to cut the shape to tape it.
