I would like to recommend that Ensemble laptops come with custom fit sleeves instead of bags. Most people already have bags. Apple fans have no problems finding sleeves that fit their laptops like a glove. PC users however are usually stuck with sleeves that have to fit a whole range of laptops. IMO it's much more useful to include a nice custom fit sleeve so we can continue to use our existing bags. A sleeve "should" also cost less than a bag.

What is the future of the W3 series, specifically the W3J. Is that coming back?

I posted this last time as well, and never saw a response, so I will shoot for it again. Even though the V6 series probably won't be refreshed again, will Asus be working on a battery issue fix? I have been trying to work through tech support, but we are at nearly 6 weeks and they still aren't sure if there is a problem, despite the 20+ pages of proof here. Is there anything that we should do to work towards a fix? Also, maybe this should be molded to a more general question, "If users find problems that Asus doesn't seem to be aware of, whats the best way to inform Asus so that a fix/patch/solution will be offered?"
-
On notebooks with graphics cards that are capable of dual link, please use a Type B HDMI connector (HDMI with dual link). I was slightly disappointed with the V1Jp's Type A HDMI connector although not surprised.
Also please include HDCP with DVI and HDMI outputs. -
whens the V2 coming out?
-
Any models with VGA-IN or DVI-IN to display external video signals?
-
Will Asus notebooks never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever be available in retail stores here?
Also, what is the launch date for the Asus U1? -
Will older ensembles, like the W3V, receive driver refreshes for Vista?
-
Same like the others.
Will they refresh W3J? If not, when is the V2 or V2X coming out (with Centrino Pro i hope)? -
Is there a plan to include eSATA ports in future notebooks? Thanks.
-
When is the V2 coming out, and how many versions will there be?
-
Yes, I think we need something concrete on the w3j, there's nothing that will quickly replace it if it is discontinued. The v2 is too expensive/mediocre vid card, and the a8j doesn't have the looks/style. So what's instore for the w3j?
-
Since the R1F seems to be a pretty big hit, what are their plans as far as tablets are concerned?
Have/Will they addressed the R1F battery wear problems?
How soon can we expect those solid state hard drives to be in their laptops?
Oh and tell them to keep up the good work! -
I would like to know if ASUS is aware of the battery issues with their flagship V6J and whether they intend on working on a fix. Also why does ASUS not release firmware upgrades for ODD, specifically the matsh*ta drives, while Sony and Toshiba does? -
Will there be "refresh" of R2H model (better processor and Vista perhaps) or are we expecting whole new model ?
-
BTW, my V6J notebook is in for the third time for this issue. I made it clear on the RMA sheet that I will not accept the notebook back if it comes in the same condition. Fingers crossed! Maybe they will work harder this time. -
Also, perhaps when notebooks with stuff like the X2400, X2600 - DX10 cards will hit asus notebooks... -
I'm curious about future ASMobile barebone notebook offerings
-
Will Asus actually come out with a true top-of-the-line gaming laptop that can challenge Alienware and Sager?
The G2 is pretty weak for a "17 inch gaming laptop" compared to Alienware and Sager and XPS... -
Supposedly the G3 has a 7900GS.....but alas, until it comes out, we know nooothing!
-
-
Bump.
Tell us how the meeting turned out! -
-
Just bumping.
-
-
bit late... but
Will there be driver support for xp on future release (santa rosa) notebooks now that vista is shipping? Some of us are un-impressed with vista or run software that's incompatible
thanks -
Aversio, ASUS will offer both XP and Vista drivers.
-
great! thanks Bender
-
They have to. ASUS do realise that a vast majority haven't yet migrated to VISTA and that vast majority are mainly business users. Also, i have seen a new generation of drivers that are compatible with both OSes.
-
bump, well what did the guy say?
-
I'm also interested. But no rush. When you have the time. It's not like we paid you to do this.

Sorry guys about the late reply, I have been too busy in the past few days, here are the brief answers for your questions.
U1 will be available in Feb.,The LCD will be LED LCD to make it thinner and more power effecient. Piano finish, 2.2lbs, 1.8" HD, 11.1", leather palm, WXGA+, external optical drive.
2. Asus knows this know;
3. RIght now the cost is too high, and size is small, will wait until the price drop.
-
Since the V2 will cost $1800, isin't that more expensive than the W3? -
Thx for the feedback Danny.
Will there be vista drivers for the yonah ensembles, specifically the V6J?

Well, at least the V2 is coming out & it's cheaper than V1
-
is the price of the v2 including the 3.5g?

the far left part of the keyboard is really loose and flexy. Everything left of the W, S, X, and Alt key feels completely lose and makes a louder clacking sound than the rest of the keyboard. Additionally, when press any key on the left half of the keyboard, the entire thing flexesClick to expand...

Mine wouldn't write DVDRWs in addition to the battery problems so I sent it in for RMA#3. Maybe this model V6J was a leeetle bit rushed into the market? -

I don't know what the deal is, but I sent an email to our friend Albert yesterday. His response was that after 7 normal charges the battery only went down to 3 hours. In my book, 33% of your battery gone after 7 charges is way too much. He said Asus doesn't think there is a problem. I sent him an email last night trying to explain to him that batteries are dying, and that for 1 years use, replacing the battery would cost an insane amount of money (battery becomes noticeably worn after 6 weeks). Hopefully I get a response today. I included at the end if he was of no further help, to please direct me to someone that was.

Here I brought back an old thread. I will have my next meeting with Asus notebook director next Tuesday, March 20th. Just want to see if you have any new questions for him.
BTW, 2 months ago, I suggested him the full size keyboard with number key pad, Asus has finished the product design and it will be in the market soon, the first model with that might be A7 notebook. -
1. When will the V2 and U1 be released in North America?
2. When will hybrid HD's or solid state HD's start appearing in Asus notebooks? What about more widespread use of LED screens?
3. How quickly will Asus be able to integrate Santa Rosa and DX10 cards into their notebooks? -

When can we c VX2 with Santa Rose & a decent DX10 card with a 7,200rpm hard disk?
-
Have him dock a V1Jp w/o the main battery installed and see if he thinks they can do better. I have a hard time getting the clips to engage without tricks.
-
Will you be able to ask him all these questions? Seems to be very specific, and, given that he's a director, might not be in charge of such details.
-
the A8 series hinge design. Serious flaw with the loosening over time?
-
Tomorrow you'll have the meeting? Hope you'll be able to answer our questions
What are your questions on Asus notebooks
