It will be a dinner meeting tomorrow, if you have more questions, still have 20 hours to add in.

If you have any questions later, you can still post here, I usually have similiar meeting with him every one to two months.

You are wrong, with all the Asus people I have dealt with, including a few notebook PMs, he knows notebook details the most.

Before I forget, something you can add is that perhaps ASUS can include TWO A/C adapters, I'm sure the extra $10-20 isn't much - however, I don't particularly like plugging and unplugging the A/C adapter every day when I use it, especially on a small desk(with not much desk space to put adapters and wires) where most wires are hidden underneath. So one can be used when its on a desk(where it doesn't usually move), while the other is stashed with the backpack.

i have one....why does it seem that they are moving away from the brushed aluminum? i'm assuming price? they discontinued the v6 and w3....and they were by far the most attractive asus models, second/third to the w2. i would buy up a 14" model that looked like the w2 in a heart beat. bring back the brushed aluminum!

V2 already available, we will start taking orders today. U1 will be April.

No plan in the near future.

Intel will launch on May 9, you should allow about one month for Asus notebook with these technology to be available in the market.

I don’t see that now, the models I can see will be W2W with X2600, F3Sv with G8600.

    Not for now.

    Reported.

I reported the recent AUO/CMO discussion on the forums, he said it will impossible for Asus to deal with only one panel manufacturer, they have to have a back up source, for Asus North America, it will be almost impossible to tell Taiwan what screen to put into their orders. This can only be a lucky draw.

Right now, Asus only plans to put optical bay battery options to business class models, like the current R1, V1, V2.

He said he doesn’t feel it is a very useful feature, no plan to use it in many models, at this moment, only one model is designed that way, it will be G3, with 8600 or 8800 video card.

No, it will be replaced by V2. The technical reason for this is the HD design, it is not directly plugged into the interface, it is connected through a flat data cable, during the data transmission, the cable gets really hot and causes the palm and keyboard warm, that is why Asus wants to design a new replacement: V2.

Will do soon, but not for every model.

Hm..you seem to know quite a deal about the upcoming Asus products. Do you know when the next 14" gaming notebook with Santa Rosa from Asus is coming out? I just joined this board and the A8J with the nvidia card looks very nice, but now im worried that it might be stupid to order one now instead of waiting if it's just a few more weeks until its succesor arrives. Or do you think it is more likely first to be seen in 2008? Thank you.

Well I have been unable to get an answer from another vendor and have had my post deleted so since this thread is active let me ask here. I am comming from a sony sz that currently is still pretty much up to speed but I have a problem with sony's and the case designs and the strength behind them. I am looking to upgrade and having been holding off for the asus v2 simply because of the integrated 3/3.5g. I am looking to preorder so as soon as it comes in I can get mine I had a couple questions on the integrated wireless boradband.

Does the 3.5g upgrade on the v2 cover all spectrums of gsm/gprs/edge/cdma/hsdpa or only the later too I know there are two version of the laptop comming out this is why I am asking.

The second is in comparions to the v2 is the lambo laptop a significant improvment thats worth the additional cost. My main concerns are semi portable, core 2 duo, fingerprint scanner, modular bay and long battery life.

Thanks and look forward to your response..

Two versions are available, but only one version ( the low one ) will come to NA, and it is available now, we will start shipping this Friday or next Monday in USA, and next Tuesday in Canada.

I have been trying to get my G1 working with XP Professional x64, but there are still a number of drivers I haven't been able to work out yet. Can you post a list of just those drivers pertaining to XP Pro x64 for the G1? It's making me crazy!

    Here's what's happening.........

On bootup, once the desktop comes up, I get 3 popup error windows:

ASUS Multiframe - Multiframe can only be run on ASUS Laptops! Please check whether ASUS ATK Driver is installed
D3dcheck - ASUS ATK ACPI Driver not found!
ERROR - Can't open ACPI ATK0100 kernel Mode Driver

I can close those out and go on.

In Device Manager, there are a number of issues I have not been able to fix:

    IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers/Base System Device (yellow !)
Imaging devices/USB 2.0 Image Capture Controller (yellow !)
Other devices/Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus (yellow ?)
    /Unknown device (yellow ?)
    /USB device (yellow ?)

Finally, whenever I try to drag a window by the top blue bar, or move other items around, the display response is VERY sluggish. It redraws about 4 frames per second. Graphics/display driver????

Other than these issues, the G1 is terrific. Overall response is superb, once I get these drivers done it'll be perfect. Display is gorgeous, although I don't really like the widescreen aspect ratio, graphics and images are slightly squeezed vertically, prefer standard 4:3, but I'll have to live with it!
