It seems most of the M50 series has been discontinued. The one I want specifically is the M50vm B1, which I can't find online anywhere in Canada. I know NCIX had one listed just a week ago. Does anyone know why, and if an equivalant machine will be coming out soon? I would go for the G50 A1, but I absolutely hate the look of it and can't justify the extra money for a slightly better GPU and screen.

The Asus M50VM notebooks were replaced by the Asus N50VN series. We still offer the Asus M50VM-B1 notebook and the newer N50VN models as well on our website.

Have you checked out the N50 yet? The N50Vn-C1S, in particular, has very similar specs to the M50Vm-B1 but it has a significantly more powerful graphics card. The N50Vn-C1S also costs about $50 less.

I have looked at the N series, and because of the similar specs I figured that might be the case. But why did they switch series? I really preferred the look of the M series, especially with that sexy looking media touchpad and good speakers.

Basically I need a replacement for my 2yr old G1, and ideally I would love the G70 for its looks, but I can't justify the extra money for the slight( and I mean slight ) performance increase over the G71. If only they had a G50 with the G70 looks... I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Edit: Also, you're a US reseller aren't you Justin? Since the exchange rate is so poor right now, I'd prefer to buy in Canada. No customs hassle and lower shipping rates, or none at all if I can get one at a local store.

Xotic PC is based in the US, but we ship worldwide. You could also wait until the N51 is released and see if that fits your needs better :)

Have you looked at the ASUS models offered and pricing on Newegg.ca? They carry more ASUS models than any other Canadian vendor to my knowledge. Newegg.ca

I have looked at newegg.ca. Right now I'm leaning more and more towards the G50 a1, despite its ugly look. The X6 on newegg's site looks nice, but as a software engineer I would prefer not to settle for the weaker CPU. I have also grown fond of the backpack from my G1, and I need a replacement which the X6 will not provide.
