I'm in the market for a new laptop...I run an old ASUS Z96j which I got back in 2006. Still running strong actually! But for work I will need a little smaller machine. So, is there an asus equivalent of the Lenovo t400/t410? help?

Well, Asus has 14" models but none of the ones currently available match the build quality of the T400. Also, I don't think any have yet been refreshed to i5/i7 processors. If you keep your eyes open, though, there should be new or refreshed models coming in the next 2-3 months. Asus tends to release new and refreshed models regularly throughout the year.

The closest match to the Lenovo T4xx series is the B80 series. These are Asus's business class laptops with a spill proof keyboard, magnesium alloy chassis and docking capability.

FWIW, I was also looking quite hard at the T400 series but then (for certain reasons that I can go into if needed) I settled for the ASUS F6Ve.

If I were to buy an ASUS notebook now I would probably go with the new UL30 models, the ones with switchable integrated+dedicated GPU.

I agree the build quality will not be near the T400. F6Ve build quality is quite good though, as far as a sub-1500USD laptops go. ;) (despite what will you will read in the main review up on this site)

I was looking really hard at both the new UL series and the T4XX models...but i'm no where near understanding the pros and cons of both. Anyone more knowledgeable and, in turn, much more "kick-" than I, help me understand a little more? Thanks!
