Ordered 5/31/06 from Buy.com. The site said it was available but apparently they sold the last one( to Jack Bauer, forum member). They said they usually get backorders in within in a month. I explained it was an older model. Does anyone think Asus stills has any in stock that Buy.com will get or am I s*** out of luck::
-
You might be right, Apes. Buy.com lists the V6Va as "temporarily" out of stock. There must be a serious demand to get these machines before Asus phases them out in favor of the V6j.
On a positive note, did you notice that the price is back up to $1798? We were smart to jump on that lower price, last week.
EDIT: I just hit my 600th post!! -
congrats on 600, but as far as the price is concerned, it willn't matter for me if I don't get one.
Have you had a chance to take the lappy outside, was wondering how the screen looks in bright outdoor light -
i think c9tech.com has them.
-
Yes they do but at $1795, that's 300 more then what I was paying to buy.com when I ordered.
-
no its not. Buy.com was 1600 and change. If you read it it said thats the price after rebate i believe. cause i looked at it.
-
could be wrong but i almost got tricked and i think that was the site.
-
noone is or has sold it for 1400-1500 i dont think.

Apes and I bought from Buy.com last week when their V6Va price was down to $1683 for a few days. That meant we got this notebook for $1469 with the rebate + a $15 off coupon! I ordered on 5/30 and received mine on 6/2. Apes ordered on 5/31, so I must have gotten one of the very last V6Vas they had in-stock. I don't know if that $1683 price was an error, but Buy jacked up the pre-rebate price to $1798.
-
Jack is correct, that is the way it was broken down. Since then buy raised the price and said it is out of stock. I'm not as upset now I see Asus is releasing the w7j for 1499, I probably go with that.

Still see V6Va advertised under this part #90NFAAD31776806L3V
Is that the correct number for the IPS screen since it is nonrefundable item?
And, I guess the only thing holding me back at this point is whether I truly want to get the Core Duo or not and if so, except for the Thinkpad t60, give up the IPS screen. Also, is there so much heat that it would get to be uncomfortable? I definitely don't do any gaming. Thanks.

Who is advertising it? If it's buy.com or zipzoomfly, thet are sold out.
-
I am seeing it at ZipZoomfly but maybe it is a mistake that it looks like it is still in stock.
Gary -
It's a mistake, I called and they are of stock.
Try agearnotebooks.com -
Thanks. Lokks like the rebate ended June 5.
