    V6J, as in my signature, 8-cell 5.2 Amps-h:
3.45-4 hours on light use (a bit shorter than that when wireless is on).
    I don't game on battery :D

This is when the battery is new. Cause then it starts dying (due to the V6J battery issue).

Z71V with modular bay battery: 5-6 hrs - 50% brightness, wifi off. Undervolted cpu, underclocked vga.

This is practical usage - in lectures/classes in general, so I basically never depletes for me. Office applications and such. I've never left it idle with no usage so I don't know the stats for that.

About 4 hours on battery life with wireless and surfing on the V6va, though the first half takes about 2hours and 30 mins to deplete, the next 50% takes about 2 hours.

Z33, 2.0Ghz, Undervolted, NHC on "Max Battery" (800Mhz)

Stock Battery - ~2:00-2:30 depending on useage - 11% wear
    Extended 9-Cell - ~6:00-7:00 depending on useage - 8 % wear

Batteries were new as of February, so ~10% wear in a year, I'm pretty happy with that.

Just curious.. why would you test it's screen saver battery life? Why wouldn't you have it hibernate after a certain ammount of idle time?

ASUS W3J (Stock Merom with Modular Bay Battery)

Max Battery Life (no Wifi, no BT, 10% LCD) : 5 hrs
Normal Use (Wifi, BT, 60% LCD) : 4 hrs
Full Load (Wifi, BT, 100% LCD, 100% CPU) : 2 hrs

These are just approximations from my own experience with the W3J.

    Cheers.

Getting it in and out from hibernation takes a lot of battery. But true, you could turn off the screen.

Yeah, my laptop's screen goes off after 5 minutes of inactivity. I'd be interested in some sort of benchmark as to how much of a hit coming in and out of hibernation is to battery life in real terms. Does it take 5 minutes worth of idle screensaver battery or more like 20?

Hardly. I'd say during hibernation & resuming, the drained battery current is at most 200% out of the idle current. And hibernation + resuming takes 1min - 1min+. That means the notebook consumes current worth of at most 3 minutes of running idle.

And I'd bet not so many minutes of standing by, from my experience (I used to put a notebook into standby for going home from work, and it always took a while recharging the battery when I got home 20 minutes later...)

Screen saver time: about the same as idle time (assuming the screen saver isn't eating up a lot of CPU).
