I noticed that target has started to carry asus eee pcs. they have an 8.9 screen, a 4 gig harddrive, and 512mb ram. It sounds a lot like the original asus that was what, 400 bucks? but it has the 8.9inch screen. one thing im wondering is what the CPU is. it is intel, but i don't know if it's the Atom or not. i also want to know if like...well with the first gen EEE's, i think it was the 2 gig harddrive that was irremovable from the laptop? or something to that effect. can this harddrive be upgraded at some point? well. heres the link from target. hopefully someone can link it to a newegg page or on asus' site. because if it does have the atom, thats nasty. i mean i can get this thing for 234 dollars. which is insane :p

I'm pretty sure Target is an authorized reseller of Asus stuff.

Ok, i don't think my English was wrong, but here i go again.

I noticed that target started selling 8.9 inch Asus EEE pc's. they are 299.99(link in original post). I was wondering whether you guys could tell if this is one of the newer EEE pcs, with the Atom CPU. I was also wondering whether the 4 GB can be changed at some point, because i read that the 1st generation EEE pcs with the small hard drives were not interchangeable.

It's probably the Celeron M processor. It'll say Atom CPU if it has it, if not, Intel Mobile = Celeron M.

Totally offtopic, congrats on the 1000H, coriolis ;)

(not to say that you just got it, but it's just now that I have seen it)

That would pretty much be the cheapest that the original EE 900s were selling for, but iono - with the EEE 904HD (Atom 1.6GHz, 160GB hard disk, 8.9" screen) coming shortly for $349, I'm not sure if its worth it.

Also - cori, haven't you had the 1000H for a while now? I remember seeing it sometime over summer, no?

so from what i understand from wikipedia, its an asus eee pc 900. without a removable ssd though i guess. the normal kind is 20g. 4 gb hdd soldered in and a removable 16gig ssd. so from what i can tell i will be able to upgrade the harddrive in the future if i so choose :)

(if im wrong please correct me lol)

but redline, itd end up costing me 110 bucks more for the upgrade. since i can get that model for 60 dollars less. so idk

Look closely...Target may be offering Asus products similar to the way Best Buy does: specific models with different part numbers and prices. Best Buy carried the G1, for example, with different specs and shorter warranty. This could add to the confusion you are seeing because those alternate part numbers are not listed on Asus' site or anywhere else.
