I've been looking at several laptops and I narrowed it down to 2 asus laptops.
    The N50Vn-B1B
    and the new N80Vn-X5.
The price between them isn't really a big deal, but I'm wondering if anyone had or has either, and could help me.

Both machines are great bargains and very well made but you notice that ASUS does not try to make either "thin and light." The bezels around the LCDs, for example, are quite hefty and so the lappies are probably among the biggest for their screen size (not necessarily that heavy, however). Given that I feel that the 14 inch N80 is really more like a Lenovo or Apple 15, I opted for it based on size and price, figuring real-world performance would be within a whisker between the two models.

All that said the N50 has a bigger, higher resolution screen. Is that worth the extra size, weight, and cost? Only you can say.

I hope you'll post back your final decision whichever way you go.

See right now I'm thinking bigger is better. The screen size is 15.4 on the N50 but it is 6.5 pounds. On the N80 its only 14, but 5.7 pounds. I buying a laptop for college, so it being light would be nice. Another asus model I was looking at was the G50vt-x5. Its the new version of the G50vt-X1. I couldnt find the specs to it yet because its new.

Go with the N80 it is lighter and and basically has the same power Plus you throw an SSD and stuff in there and you got a light weight daily user :D

As for the G50 its nice but the size is HUGE its big like a 17" notebook and is gonna way around 7lbs+ plus but on the flip side the GPU is alot more powerful
