What maximum RAM on new Zenbook UX303UB?

So, i bought this little gem here on Amazons EU page:

It is not here yet and i want to buy some RAM while i am at it. Problem is, that this page tells me, that the maximum usable RAM amounts to 8GB on the LN-Version. I am assuming, that it is the same motherboard like my newer version(?) .

Is there a way to find out how much my incoming UX303UB can use properly?

 

It will use all the ram you put in it correctly. The article writers just don't understand asynchronus memory modes.

Any available slot (where a sodimm is used and it's not all soldered on) should be able to accept up to 16gb for ddr4 and 8gb for ddr3.

 

And no Bios or OS would stop me from using that ,lets say, 16gb ddr4 RAM properly? I am asking,because someone else wrote similar stuff in the Reviews of the LB version.

16gb ddr4 is quite common now but the limit should be based on the Intel specs:

If you really are not sure still, order the memory from a place with a good returs policy.

 

I did. Found out it has a maximum of 8 gig DDR3 Ram , which sounds ridiculously low.

I ordered 8 gig Ram yesterday, so maybe ill send it back. Or do i have any sort of benefit of having that 8 gig stick in there? Can the machine even work with it(but just use 4 gig of the stick) ?

4gb + 8gb = 8gb dual channel with 4gb of single channel.

I'll give u a simple answer since i can see the cryptic replies you have been getting are confusing you.

Yes your 8GB RAM stick will work, don't return it back. This Asus can handle a maximum of 12GB RAM = 4GB soldered on the motherboard + 8GB removable RAM.

Hardly cryptic, I already said he can put 8GB in any available slot and it will work.

This, combined with the numerous articles searchable on Google that show that 16 GB offers very marginal performance increases in real-world and practical usage case scenarios, means that although our max-min gamer brains might instinctually gravitate towards the highest number for any specification, upgrading to 12GB might not offer as much oomph as it seems.

On the other hand, if you work with a lot of large video or picture files or have a penchant for compressing ludicrously large ZIP files, then the more RAM the merrier! Also, if you don't care about the cost-benefit ratio of purchasing 8GB over 4GB, then spend away!

 

I just installed a Micron 16GB PC3L-12800 DDR3L-1600Mhz 204Pin Unbuffered Sodimm Ram in my Asus U303U and it works perfectly, total 20GB, no need to change bios, it booted straight away and works under both Linux Mint and windows 10. I do a lot of Photo stitching so the extra ram is really handy. A bargain for $129.

 

So I have a UX303UB, with 8Gb RAM. Wherever I look online I see the max RAM is 12Gb, meaning max 8Gb stick to reach 12Gb. Now you are saying you successfully installed a 16Gb stick and have 20Gb RAM available. Can you confirm this, and have you experienced any problems since? Thanks a lot!

 

I can confirm the 20G of RAM work just fine, no problems after 3 weeks. Only thing i noticed is an increase in processor activity, but i'm not sure it's connected other than more tabs of browsers to process at the same time than before.
