I know the W3J is supposed to have one right?

And the Z71V although it´s an older model not having duo core.

    Does the V1J have one?

Could someone help me make a verified list?

    thanks,
    bedi

The V1j should have it, since its advertised with a modular OD.

HP dv8000 has two drive bays and you order it that way from HP. Note that if you only get 1 drive, you cannot later on install a 2nd hard drive. Search this forum to find out why.

Cool! Do you have a link? I haven´t been able to find "modular bay" in any spec...

What about the F3J and the V6J?

    Ok!

Does anyone know if the modular bay bracket for the V1J is something you have to buy separatly like for the Z71V or is it included?

The V1j won't be available in the US for probably the next two months. It's always been and will most likely continue to be an optional accessory (about $35).

The V6j does not have a modular bay - which is very unfortunate.

The V6j can't have a modular bay it uses a 9.5mm optical drive instead of a 12.7mm as most notebooks have. This thinner drive is what makes the V6 so sexy (it wouldn't be as thin as it is without it), but in that given space, even without a needed carrier, a normal 2.5" hard drive would be too big. Now, we could get into the possibility of them making a battery for that slot, but the cells would have to be very small and I can't see a battery in that sized slot holding even half of what a W3's 2nd battery can and that'd only add 3 hours to the system.. so what's an hour and half? But regardless of the size limitations on those things... the thing that makes the drive modular in the first place is a slot lock which honestly would take up more room itself.

.. It's all about thin with the V6.

Maybe it´s included (and paid for) in enemble laptops since you can´t choose what you get when buying one

In BTO´s it makes more sense making it an extra option
