    Hi

    I have an ASUS K50IJ-X3 with a Dual-Core T4500 processor, 4GB of DDR2-800, 1 slot, a 500GB Hard Drive (5400 RPM) and an Intel GMA X4500M graphics processor.

Recent tests (aided by input from here - thanks, guys) have determined that the motherboard is no longer able to communicate with the hard drive or CD/DVD etc, so basically it needs a new motherboard.

My question is, can anyone recommend a motherboard that will suit the above components and won't cost a fortune, or is it going to be cheaper to scrap the notebook and get a new one?

Laptop motherboards are not interchangeable because they are not standardized.

You will need an ASUS K50 motherboard of the same generation, you can start with an ebay search like this to get an idea about the price range:

    asus a50 , k50 mother , main -amd -repair | eBay
