    Hi, everyone

A few days ago some coffee came into my laptop(Asus W7j) and then suddenly the system shut down automaticly, Now it is dead. I bought this laptop in P.R.China, however now I am here in US. I just wanna know where I can ship this laptop to Asus(U.S) to repair? BTW, What else should I do(receipt ect)? Also, I am curious that whether it's free to repair as it is just more than one year.

    Thanks everyone!!

I don't think ASUS cover spills. They do now apparently but not when you bought yours. With water damage, its best to turn everything off immediately and let everything dry for a week then turning it on again. sometime it will just work again. Certainly is true for cameras droped into water.

Your warranty is in China. Asus US and Asus China are technically considered sister companies when it comes to warranties. Kind of like Dell and Alienware (kind of =P). You most likely shorted the mobo, which could be up to 500$ to replace, if you can find the part. IF your laptop doesn't work in a couple weeks, I would suggest getting a new one.

    Cheers

I've experienced this kind of problem twice, one with my S96J and couple months ago with my G1. The best thing to do is to turn off the system directly after the spills and don't turn it on for about a week. Try putting on a small fan besides it and open all the cases as far as you can go. Don't try to sneak turning on the power within the week just to see if it works, cause that's one of the stupid mistakes that I did which makes me have to get a motherboard replacement that ASUS did not cover.

Follow all the instructions above and you will be save for paying some hundred dollars to repair you computer.

ASUS's warranty is international, however, their warranty does not cover accidents which in this case is.

Try blow-drying the inside of your computer from a decent distance (don't get too close to the motherboard!). Worked for me, should work for you.

the fact that it was coffee and not water would make a rather large difference. the insides are probably all coated with a nice hardened sticky layer by now.

<<aside>> I've fixed a sharp phone that wouldnt turn on after a week after getting very wet by spraying it with alcohol in a can... came to life after 2 days. I"M NOT SUGGESTING THAT YOU TRY THIS, JUST MY EXPERIENCE WITH A PHONE.
