I will be receiving my G73JH-A2 this Friday, and I was wondering what should I do when I first receive it? I know it does not come with any recovery discs, so I'll have to burn those. But, is there anything that'll make this process easier? I'll also have to download drivers, but what else do I have to do?

    Thanks!

I'd just reinstall fresh, with a clean version of windows.

I would recommend doing nothing at first except for burning the recovery disks.

You may want to uninstall any software you don't use - just make sure you know what you're uninstalling. Something like the Asus Utility and Bloatware Guide can help.

There's no G73JH driver updates yet so what are you going to download?

1st thing I do is to accessorize my outfits to match the new laptop, but that's me :)

    I agree with Mark.

Burn recovery disks, uninstall bloat ware - INCLUDING ALL CREATIVE LABS SOFTWARE.

Then go ahead and start using the rig.

A bit down the road, you may want to update the Bios to 209.

Apart from that, I don't see any need to start messing with anything else just yet. You may just be surprised to find that everything is working just right.

    But hey.....that's just my opinion.

    Thanks for the replies, everyone!

So I should create back up discs first, then do a fresh windows install/bloatware removal?

Shouldn't he charge it for like 6 hours without turning it on the first thing he receives it?

not really. since it's new, you don't need to do back up.

... and I was wondering why the fsking goths are wearing blue LEDs ... though, the crazy makeup still fits, oddly enough.
