What should I do with my Z63A?

I recently bought a Z63A after the screen on my old Toshiba laptop died. It was working great, except now, for some reason, the computer will not start. It is either my processor (1.86 gHz Pentium M) or my hard drive (an old 40 gb Toshiba, 4000rpm), as the computer was extremely overheated about 2 days ago. (Not sure why, as I had placed the computer in standby mode). Also, the computer would always freeze during/after startup a week before the computer completely died.

I really need a laptop for school come mid-August, and I really only have 2 options:
    1. Sell the z63a and buy a new laptop
    2. Try to fix it.

    Any suggestions?

    The Z63A has 1gb RAM, and a DVD-RW drive.

Are you still under warranty with your reseller? If so give them a call and send your laptop in for repairs. I really dont think you would get much money if you tried to sell a broken laptop.

If it is under warranty, then It should be repaired for free. When did you buy it? If its not under warranty still then, check on how much it would cost to get it repaired. If that is too much, then you might need to sell it for parts on ebay or something, then buy a new one.

Unfortunately, I bought the Z63A as a barebones, and did the installation myself. If I were to sell it, it would essentially be a laptop minus hard drive and processor...basically a barebones.

Even though you purchased the system as a barebones... I THINK the barebones itself still has warranty. If you can prove that it's not your hard drive, CPU or something else you installed which is corrupt... then they may replace you barebones for free (if it's sill under warranty).
