Mini PCI Express is the same as an Express Card right? And Mini PCI is the old PCIMCIA??

    AR5006EX & AR5006XS

These are the two Atheros cards I'm trying to fit into the Z96j...which one does it take?

No - Mini PCI and Mini PCI Express are internal cards (take off the bottom of your laptop and put it in) while PCMCIA and ExpressCard are external cards (slot on the side of the laptop).

The Z96J is usually sold with the Intel 3945ABG, which is a Mini PCI Express card, so you would want a Mini PCI Express Atheros card, such as the AR5006EX. The AR5006XS is Mini PCI and wouldn't fit.
