Tis' an official nVidia tweaking/overclocking software, unless I'm wrong.

    Optimize what ?
If you aren't gonna do anything advanced (like me) then you probably don't need nTune.

The latest drivers are about as optimized as it gets. After that, if people want to optimize their cards more they use nTune.

So that thing is just something extra that people use to get the most out of their cards past what the drivers do.

    Tweaking as I mentioned :)
Go ahead and give it a try if you want. If it doesn't work out for you, revert to the previous settings.

I installed ntune 5.05 on my Acer 4520 and have found it good.
Despite dire warnings on this forum, I found the auto-tune function worked well. Also one can switch back to the original settings if preffered.
I used PC Wizard 2008 (& CPU-Z) and also used the Windows Experiance Index.

I did the 20 minute test and the 3-hour.

Below are the results as follows. Before/after 20 min tune/after 3 hour tune

    Video 115/165/145
    Hard Drive 51/67/67

The processor speed actually reduced slightly

    Processor 5387/4829/5441

WEI improved by 1 mark on 2 settings.

I also ran SIS Sandrasoft Lite. On the arithmitic text before was 9800 MFLOPS and 11467 MFLOPS after the 3-hour test.

This is on an Acer 4520 with Athlon TK-53 64 X2 with 2Gb RAM. Geforce 7000/610M, and nforce n560 chipset.

The nTune 3 hour activity is running on my 4520 as I type(on another Laptop)

The 20 minute tune improved performance by 18%

lets see what 3 hours can do.
