What's the difference between the V6J, V6J(V6X00J), and the V6J-1AXP?

I'm pretty sure I want to return my 3 day old IBM Z61m (it's too heavy) and get a V6J of some sort...

    Thanks in advance!

    The current model Asus V6J-8022P
    That comes with a t2500
V6X00J is just the model depicted on the sticker under the laptop. The general model is v6j. It unifies all of its revisions.

    Hm ok.

The local computer store ( www.datavis.com) used to have the V6X00J and now has the 1AXP.

Do you know the history of these revisions? Or basically I should only buy the current 8022P revision?

Is there a revision with the Core 2 Duo instead of the Core Duo?

The Core 2 Duo model will not be out for at least 7-8 weeks.

Both of those model numbers really aren't "model numbers", at least here in the US. That store may be using other numbers off the outside of the box, but they're not anything I could give you specifics for. The V6J-8022P model just came out and before that the only other Core Duo V6 was the V6J-X009P.

    There are only two differences:

    8022P - T2500 / 1024mb x 1
    older X009P - T2300 / 512mb x 2

If you're trying to do a comparison, those are the only two options you need to look at.

Z61m with optical drive - from IBM tech specs: 6.33lbs
    V6J - from Asus specs: 5.73lbs

Just something to think about: is the weight difference of .6lbs enough? Or do you really want something in a smaller size, say the W3J?

Of course the Asus styling wins hands down :p

Under 6 pounds, every 1/4 pound seems like a LOT.

There is no way my Z61m is only 6.33 lbs. It weighs as much as my co-worker's Toshiba m65 17 inch.
