Sometimes as units get closer to being released the specs/prices/release date change a bit. I was curious if a european or an asian model of this laptop has been released yet?

Any update on any of the above info?

I've also seen something about a w7v - I'm guessing they are the same model?

    Thanks

There shouldn't be a w7v. From what I've read.. the W7 is a new series introduced this year. the -V designation, is a designation for last year's Asus models containing a dedicated video card. This year, V has been replaced by J, thus it is highly unlikely that there ever existed a w7v.

This is quite off topic... but Goren, your sig should read W3J instead of W3V :)

    I noticed that too...about Goren's sig.

Goren's right, unless the W7 was released in another part of the world months ago, which none of us have heard anything about, there really wouldn't be a W7V. It's supposed to be a brand new chasis, the dedicated graphics version will be a W7J. Not much new has been released yet...Justin, Eddie and Danny keep us all well informed, so check back once and a while. When there's something to be told, we're usually the first to know on this forum. :)

Checked with at least 5 shops in Taipei yesterday. No one ever heard or aware of anything related to W7 series...

Hah! :p I wish! The w7 definitely looks like it's going to be hot, but we've got a ways to go before it will see release.

naszero, your gf is going to have to sit (pretty) until summer at least. In the meantime, if you're looking for a smaller Asus, the z35f is due to arrive in May. The chassis and specs aren't quite as awe-inspiring as the w7, but it looks like it will be an excellent little machine.

All the same, if someone gets ambitious and tackles the .202 file, let us know! :D

Looks like the .202 file might be a BIOS file. The hex dump of it mentions 'AMIBIOS'.

    ok now i'm really undecided.

I had kinda decided to go for W3J (instead of A8J).
....or should I wait for this W7J?

I don't care much about its built-in webcam. What entice me is the sub 2kg weight.
What are the pros & cons anyway? I assume W3J graphics card is better?

    Convince me... thanks.

^W3J has an X1600 while the W7J only has a 7400. But I agree, it's a very nice laptop... If you don't really need the graphics power, like a 13.3" screen over a 14.1", and assuming it has a subpar battery life, why not go for the W7J?

OK - so I really want this W7J - how do I get one?If its available I can buy from Europe or US....possibly Japan - but who is selling it?

And are there final specs yet? ie HD, RAM, and of course most importantly a remote ;) !!

    What's up,
Various sellers here are taking pre-orders on the W7J. I know that both PROportable.com and Milestonepc.com have posted pages on which you can see the specs and pre-order the units.

Asus NA has placed the order with Taiwan couple of days ago, should show up soon. Remember W3J, from the date order placed to the time arrive NA is only a week.
