I have an A8Jm and Power 4 gear is messing with my power settings. Nothing is really saving with the screen saver (so I set the screensaver time to 9999).

I was thinking about Notebook Hardware control, but it only has video settings for ATi cards (nVIdia in this badboy).

    Any suggestions?

RMCLock is a good alternative to power4Gear. Direct control over your processor's speed.

I'd also suggest RMClock. No video settings there as well. But all the video settings you need should be in the control panel of the GPU? (rightclick desktop etc) P4Gear doesn't do anything to the videocard either.

Just because it hasn't been said, NHC (Notebook Hardware Control) is another alternative (I use neither it nor Rmclock).

Either NHC or RMC is a good alternative (I also use the former) - they both have their quirks and issues, but are pretty much the best options if you want more control & flexibility than P4G can offer by itself.

Does RMClock offer battery control (ie battery saving and high performance options like P4G does)?

I am not hesistant on switching P4G since Asus models has those P4G buttons right on the laptop...easy access to change power modes.

As I understand it, RMC may only control the CPU voltage & freq. NHC has profiles that you can set up where you might be able to better approximate P4G, but you have to pay for the professional version in order to enable those features.

I prefer NHC. It has a really easy interface and it is simple to change profiles back and forth.
