The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.
A good question that as far as I know, no one knows the answer to.
I contacted a few vendors, but they had no idea. I even called Asus and they didn't know.
I read a press release or an article published a few weeks ago that said it would be out by the end of February, but it doesn't look like thats going to happen.
I am very excited about this notebook, and look for any sign of it in the retail channel on a daily basis.
If any vendor or anyone else knows an ETA, I would appreciate to know as well.
It's supposed to be coming in around the 3rd week of March, along with the V2. Price is probably going to be $2k+... It's basically an S6 without an internal optical drive - but with (supposedly) an external blueray player (which is really expensive)...and may increase the price from there. This model is going to have leather palmrests, but not lid... my guess is that we're looking at it being closer to $2,400-$2,500 with a blueray drive...
... although, I'm hoping for less, I doubt it will be. It's a beautiful little system and it's got a lot. I like it more than the S6's just because the proportions are nicer because it doesn't need the added thicknes of the internal optical drive.
... actually I'll be out first customer... I've seen the demo, and I'm grabbing the first U1 that comes in...... It's small enough that I can store it in my car in the underseat storage drawer... it's soo tiny. I'll also be taking the first V2 as well as I think it'll be my new travel system.
