I've been looking back at posts on this fourm about the W3V, and it seems that there have been delays in expected shipping dates for this laptop. For example, on the 15 Feb 2005, Justin said that he was expecting the W3V in about a month.

Does anyone know if Asus has actually started making the W3V yet? And if not, what is the latest information we have on when the W3V goes to manufacturing? The reason I ask is that Asus UK told me yesterday that they are expecting the W3V "within two months". I appreciate their not wanting to overpromise, but "within two months" is a pretty wide window. It could mean tomorrow. Or it could mean the beginning of June. That's a pretty wide window.

Also, does anyone have any feel for the reason for the delay? I'm struggling to understand why the W3V isn't already available. At first, I thought they might not have the 915PM chipset (the W3A which *is* available, uses the 915GM chipset). However, the 915PM chipset is clearly already available to Asus because it's in the V6V. So, I have no idea what's stopping Asus making the W3V... Is it component shortages? Shortage of manufacturing slots? Problems with the design?

I believe (and justin can correct me if i'm wrong) asus has already manufactured the w3v and it's just a matter of a couple weeks or so before the first batch will be available in the states. Not sure about the UK though.

Wellllllllllll....... you know. It's the day that they are supposed to be released from port and arrive at the office.... I don't think weather is a big issue this time of year... so things are usually pretty smooth.

    Thanks,
    Justin
