I searched through the Canadian Asus site and found a laptop I like (N53jf), but where can I actually buy Asus notebooks in Canada? There's no link anywhere to any Asus stores or even resellers. I don't want to buy it off of some random site through google search engines like Pricebat. Are there any reliable (preferably physical stores) that sells N53jf?
And on the website there are multiple configurations for Asus laptops (like i3/i5/i7), so I'm assuming it's customizable? Any deals on those?

you could try xotic pc, gentech, or excaliber pc

for me I would definitly forgo the N53 for the U41jf, it has the same specs, in a much more portable chassis, although the sound might not be as good (N53 bang & olfusen U41 altec lansing)

Does Asus usually have coupons and deals during the holiday season (like Dell, Lenovo, etc)? Or are they like Apple and basically have stone-carved prices?
$1000 isn't cheap for an i5/330M laptop compared to other brands.

There's no U41jf in Canada. The one we have is U43jc, which is much more expensive, has a smaller screen, and lesser specs. I'm not looking for much portability, just a basic 15.6" with a GPU will do.

Since you prefer a physical store, where exactly in Canada are you? In Toronto I would add Lu Computers in Don Mills to _Allan_'s list. Online, cendirect.com (based in Quebec) has them.

I have no personal experience buying from Lu. I bought a DSLR from cendirect and had no complaints.

A physical store or a very reliable (ie, not some random online site from google search) online store like Amazon are ok. I've had a horrible experience buying laptops (bought a HP dv6-3093ca from Costco and I had the luck of getting a completely defective unit, had to run back to return it, I'd hate to imagine buying online and getting yet another defective unit).
I live in Richmond Hill, but anywhere in the GTA is fine as I travel frequently.

Check if there is a NCIX near you. I think there is one in Markham, but I don't live in ontario so I have no idea how far that is from where you live...

NCIX, Newegg and Canada Computers probably has the largest selection of Asus laptops?

I am wondering what Asus laptops you guys recommend, though.

I don't like that Asus decides to not provide the same kind of features or parts as other brands. Still no eSATA on these machines unless it's a gaming machine!

i'd check out infonec, they have a location in markham at warden and steeles, and also a new one beside vaughan mills which i'm sure you're familiar with. i got my u80v from the markham location. i haven't been to the new store, but they definitely have a fairly large lineup to look at. also not sure if they have display models. canada computers have a few asus laptops and they're all over the place. closest one for you would probably be at major mac and bayview beside the walmart. and there is a ncix location in markham too that would also hold asus laptops. best of luck!

    here's the website for infonec

I bought my N61JQ from Generic Computer in Vancouver:
Generic Technology - Computer Technology Computer Equipment Vancouver
Remkember if you buy from big box (BB, Newegg, etc.) the models are slightly downgraded (HDD size/speed, etc.) and they do not have full 2 year warranty - but may be to $100 less.
The warrantly is worth it for me, but up to you.
The N61 series is a bit over $1K and has excellent performance. I think there is a replacement coming out. I think it is 'best bang for your buck'.
    Good luck!

N61 has eSATA, first notebook with USB 3.0, and uses first GPU with DX11.
Bit over $1K but replacement may be out - or shortly.
Check out the N61 Owners Lounge - it is huge, and excellent.

I'm telling you, extreme-pc.ca is AWESOME. They've got a store in guelph (about an hour outside of toronto) and have done a bunch of work with ATI directly - they co-produced the first 2900xt to hit market back in 2007.

If you are specifically looking for that N53JF-XE1 model (1920x1080 res) in Canada, there are 3 online stores that carry it: newegg.ca, tigerdirect.ca, and amazon.ca, at these respective (current) prices: $1050, $1030, $1159. The Amazon one is showing out of stock.

Why not buy US? You usualy save money in the end for the majority of technology.

As for the best buy recommendations ...1599$ for a laptop that has a year of warranty slashed, accidental warranty removed and LCD/HD's downgraded isn't a "great" deal.
