Please check with your Computer vendor for eligibility and redemption dates
Please have your date of purchase
Please have your Certificate of Authenticity (COA) number (14 digits) readily available.
Please provide your Computer vendors Windows Vista Capable PC Model and Model number
Please have your PC serial number readily available

I was wondering where i can find this in my Aj8P. Plus will i need a credit card?

I actualy only need to know the COA. Model Number and Serial Number

If the COA is the Windows key, then it is usually located on the bottom of your notebook on a colorful (and glossy) label.

    Hope that helps.

Yes you will need your credit card in order to pay for shipping and handling. I think it was somewhere around $7.

The COA number is the Windows Key on the bottom of the laptop... The Model Number and Serial Number should be on the bottom of the laptop on a sticker that says something like "Model: A8Jp" and then has the serial number on the next line.

In this photo the COA is in the upper left and the model/serial numbers are in the upper right, right above where it says 'Warranty: 24M'

wow thats weird, did you change something? microsoft will only go by what you physically got. So i'd say MCE. They need that serial/date of purchase on the bottom anyway.

Well im using the right COA number but it wont allow me to pass through onto the next section.

Before, I filled everything out. The COA was fine at the time. But I didnt fill out the credit card and then my comp froze on me.... could this be a problem.

Alright well it finally worked after many hours. However, i get this response which I dont quite understand:

"A confirmation email will be sent to you. If you have not specified an email address, you will have to print this page first. Please send in the original or a certified copy of your proof of purchase (Receipt, Invoice, etc.) to one of the addresses below. Your order can not be fulfilled until your proof of purchase and redemption form have been received and validated."

then it lists addresses of Asus. Do I have to do this even if i do have email? I dont fully understand this concept.

If so, where can I find this "receipt" or proof of purchase or redemption form online from Newegg?

I received the same email message when I did the upgrade request. I emailed the US redemption center (Utah) and asked the same questions.

If/when they respond, I'll post the info. Their instructions really aren't clear. Especially since you would think by submitting the COA and other info, they could confirm the sale info themselves.

I believe what that is saying is that you will receive a confirmation email containing the following information if you gave them an email address, otherwise you need to print the page so you have the information saved since they have no way to send it to you.

Then they are looking for an invoice.. If you go to Newegg -> Log In -> My Account -> Order History/Print Invoice, all of the invoices from all of your Newegg orders are there and you can forward a copy as required to get Vista.

I have a feeling someone obtained my rents credit card. What are the chances of this? I still never got a confirmation email.

Did you check your spam filters? Not getting an email doesn't necessarily equate with a stolen credit card. You might have mistyped your address. It might have been lost. That does happen with email from time to time. And, there was a huge problem with the internet cables to Asia. The update site started with a warning about slow response time due to this problem.

However, if you think there's any change that your parents' credit card has been stolen/misused, you really need to let them know. This was only a $7 charge, so if you need to resubmit your request, you can do it with a new card.

This is the response I received from Asus' upgrade program:

However, I would strongly encourage you to email them directly (their email address is in the email receipt you received), ask them the same question, and include their response when you send it in.
