Believe it or not.... Asus didn't import any of them... Not a one...

We have the 9 cell for the white and black S5 and M5....... we have the black 3 cell for the black S5 and M5...... but no silver 3 cell..

The black would work and some people even like the look of it.... but Asus doesn't even have any for RMA purposes.

Also, the price of the 3 cell batteries went up to $80 from asus... where the 9 cell is about $110. Our 3 cells we got dirt cheap last year..... but there is something about Taiwan raising all of the prices on the batteries across the board.

    Thanks,

Justin, from start to finish (shipping etc) how much would it cost for you to send me a black M5N 3 cell battery.

I live in Toronto, Canada. I know its hard to say but give me your best estimate.

Reason being, I've asked nearly all shops in Toronto, I cant get a straight answer.

    Thanks in advance,

Hey Manuelku have you tried contacting canadasys or canadacomputers? (www.canadasys.com and www.canadacomputers.com) They are certified Asus dealers and they can probably special order it in for you, but thats just a suggestion no idea if it'll really work.

I think our 3 cell batteries are still $35 or so... we're on last years prices since our stock of those batteries were bought last year....... but anyone who doesn't have them..... who has to order them, would have to use this years price update since thats what they were going to have to pay for them.

WOW so its only 3-cell, no wonder the battery life is so damn short, i thought it was like a 5 or 6 cell battery. So 3-cell translates into approx what like 2 hours, while my m6's 8 cell translates to about 4 hours. So the S5 is using 1.5cells/hr while my 8cell is using 2cell/hr. Its actually quite effecient. Although prob not a good comparison considering m6 has practically double the screen and 10 times the power [ :D].

EXACTLY...... I've been trying to tell people that for the size of that standard battery... it's really really good....... but most people just look past that and say... they're only getting 2 hours out of it...

There is a reason that that 9 cell is rated at a max of 9 hours -- I can usually see about 7 (at least) ..... but again, it depends on the configuration. Some people tweak out 3 hours on the 3 cell.... while 2:30 probably is easily doable.

i know that recently when we tried to order 3 cell silver batteries for the white m5 chassis' we got... they said the price was $80 something..... and I coughed saying.... thats probably the price of the 6 cell.... then they said taiwan is raising the price on all of the batteries.

kaangonel, I got the 9 cell battery over the weekend for my S5n. I will take some pictures for you to show the size of it. It does stick out the back quite a bit, but it looks fine and matches the computer well. Doesn't look as sleek as with the regular battery in there, but it sure does improve battery life!

I took some pics of it this morning with the 9 cell battery, but I need to let me camera's battery recharge before I can download the pics, size and crop them and post them here. I should be able to do it sometime this afternoon.

Where did you get the 9-cell battery? I'm in the UK and I've only seen the 6-cell one for sale. I have an M5N (black); I'm assuming the batteries are the same all over. I'll be in Canada (Calgary) over the summer, if there's anywhere to get one there. Or perhaps I could order one from the U.S. and have it delivered to a friend there. Is there much of a price difference between the two countries?
Anyone know any U.K. supplier that actually has these?
I find the 6-cell just doesn't last very long if I'm doing anything that, say, uses the CD-ROM, or if I'm on the internet.
I haven't used the 3-cell battery that came with it for ages now. It does look the best, though!

Here's some pics of my S5 with the 9 cell battery. In real life it doesn't look quite as huge as it does in the photos. And I find the additional weight isn't too bad although it is a bit back heavy.

It's not exactly perfect, but the battery life is pretty amazing with this thing in there. I only charged it once when I got it and I've been using the computer off and on since Saturday with the 9 cell in there and it's not dead yet (1:22 left)! You're easily looking at 8hrs of battery life if you use up both batteries.

Robyn - Ever get those rubber feet I mailed you? I don't remember hearing back from you.

Sencha - I've been using an S5 and a white M5 witha 9 cell battery for some time and for some reason, the way you took those pictures make it look bigger than it is. I don't know why... but a 1/3 of the battery fits within the original slot.. and then about 2/3's sticks out...... I don't know why, but it just looks bigger in your pictures.... like more unattractive.. It might just be the angles you took them at. That top picture looks like it was taken with a wideangle lens or something as the edge of the battery looks like it's angled, when it's really straight.

I took these with a fairly powerful macro lens, but I definitely noticed that it looks way bigger in the pics than in real life. I probably shouldn't have used the macro lens, but it was already on my camera and I was feeling a bit lazy. I'm going to try again tomorrow to take some that are a bit more accurate with a different lens. I think the macro lens kind of exaggerates the size of the battery, especially at the angles I was shooting from and the depth of field settings I was using. The strange thing is now that i'm looking at my battery in real life, it does kind of angle like that when you look at it from above. But from the bottom it is straight. I might take a couple shots of the battery by itself with the regular battery so you can see what I mean, Justin. It's a bit strange. The degree of angling is definitely exaggerated in the photos, but the sides of the battery definitely angle slightly when you look from above. I never noticed that until now.

yes, I got the rubber feet - emailed you to say thanks, and you replied, remember? [ :)]

I don't mind the look of the 6 cell battery so much, though admittedly I prefer the 3 cell one. But I don't find the 6 cell one is long enough. I use the computer for teaching, where we need to access things that are on a CD. The place I use the computer isn't convenient for plugging it in, but it means that I can only do maybe 3 hours in a row, and then have to go recharge it. So for that I suppose the 9-cell battery would be better - though one of the reasons I got this one was that it was so small and light to carry on my walk to work, and the 9-cell kind of defeats the purpose. Even if I could find somewhere in the UK that carries it! I've seen it listed a couple of times, but nobody actually seems to have it.

I hope it looks smaller in real life than those photos. They make it seem pretty huge. You'd think they could have designed one somehow to look a bit more stylish! The little battery looks so nice. But carrying the power brick around probalby takes up the same amount of weight as the heavy battery anyway, doesn't it?! Why do you actually need the brick - if you're just using it in one country, is there some other kind of cord you can get, that's just a cord? Do you actually need whatever that adapter does? (The UK plugs are also giant and heavy compared to N.American ones).
