Hi I am thinking about buying an N-Series Asus. But I really need to try the keyboard for myself before I buy as the feel of the keyboard (and to a lessor extent, the mouse buttons) makes a huge difference to me.

I went to Fry's and to Best buy and I was able to try the G-Series keyboard and the A(?) Series. Here are my questions:

    (0) Can anyone point me to a physical retailor that carries any N-Series so I can see them in person. (I am in Portland, OR)
(0.5) If there are no stores, does anyone on this forum have a newsish n-series and live in Portland-- I'll buy you a coffee to see your computer and meet you anywhere :)
    (1) Is the N-Series keybaord the same as either the G or A(?)?
    (2) Is there a difference in keyboards across the N-Series?
    (3) I loved the Asus A-series keyboard and mouse I saw at best buy, but on the Asus G532W at Fry's the mouse buttons were soooooo stiff, I think it would drive me crazy to have to push that down all of the time.

    (4) I was planning to buy the dell xps because I adored the speakers, but when the 1000th person told me about build issues I switched my buying plan to Asus... Will the n-series speakers make me as happy as the Dell JBL sound system-- or will it at least be close enough that I won't despair. (I have to say, the sound on the Best Buy Asus (I think it was an A-series? But I am not totally sure of that) was really lame.

    Thanks for any help!

The keyboard on the N55SF is unique to itself, the N53SV has the same (or similar) keyboard as some earlier N series, and the B series. I think some people have swapped out the N53 keyboard for a chicklet one, there is some discussion spread across this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asu...sus-n53sv-n53sn-sandybridge-owner-thread.html

I couldn't find out easily if it was the same as the G53/73 keyboard.

Since the N55SF is a high-end ASUS machine, I don't think it is going to be easy to find at a brick & mortar retailer. Usually the big-box retailers will have the more mainstream models, and they water down the specs to bring the price down.

You're asking very general questions about the N series, if you say which models you're looking at there are threads with people posting in them that I can point you to.
