    Hi Sikidhart,

It should be pretty easy to get Asus in Japan, especially if you're in Tokyo. I can guarantee the Akihabara area has plenty of Asus stuff to go around... probably more than anywhere else in the world.

As for particular stores... you may want to check with SofMap or Akiba-PC first. There are a few stores that specialize in laptops but I don't remember them right now.

If you can't get something in Japan... it's likely you can't get it anywhere else in the world.

problem is, both sites you gave do not have asus notebooks.
asus japan's website also has no notebooks.

    These are the common brands:

    TOSHIBA
    Panasonic
    SHARP
    FUJITSU
    NEC
    SONY
    SOTEC
    HP/COMPAQ
    IBM/lenovo

there are also a lot of laptops here with the brand "prime note"
    any good?

any of these having the following specs?

    pentium M
    15.4 glossy wide
geforce go 6600/mobility x700 or higher
    533ghz ram up to 2g
at least a combo drive (dl support)
wireless and all other must have laptop stuff :D

Look again. :) You just haven't looked hard enough... try this link. I admit, it's not much of a selection... I'm sure there's more but you may have to dig. Also, if it's not on the site, that doesn't preclude you from calling them up - they'll probably try to see if they can get whatever you want.

The great thing about this one is that it's a barebones W3V - impossible to get anywhere else... alas, not your configuration.

Of course, if you are in Japan and you have the budget, there are plenty of laptops around that are much nicer than anything that can be obtained elsewhere.

I haven't played much with Prime Note so I don't really know how they are... but some of the Panasonic, Sony, and NEC models are nice...

Best bet is to walk around Akihabara if you have the chance. Nothing better than seeing it all up close.
