I wanted to reply to the BIOS Update Guide thread, but it's closed (why? just because it was started in 2010? What if there's a valid question about it? Anyway)

The thread says not to update the BIOS unless "the list of changes and bugfixes on support.asus.com" has something you really care about. My question is, where EXACTLY is this list of changes?

I have a Zenbook UX430U (UX430U Q I think, it has the NVidia 940MX GPU, while the UX430U N has the MX150 one) and am considering updating to the 2018/03/09 BIOS. Where can I find the change list for that BIOS? That page only says "Optimize system performance". Optimize HOW and WHAT?

Normally, it's good to update BIOS to the latest version because it contains bug fixes as well as enhancement. Rarely that the BIOS may cause loss of performance such as Spectre-related fixes.

Only Asus can provide you with that information.

An incredibly vague description. However, judging by the age of the hardware and the timing of the BIOS release, it most likely has to do with more Intel processor microcode updates, and if applicable, Intel ME firmware updates if they roll them up together with the BIOS update. An unlikely scenario, but one I cannot omit as I'm yet to see Asus offer separately downloadable ME firmware update packages for their laptops, implying the assumption above.

Some fellows at Win Raid forum may be able to assist with ME segment of BIOS.
