I got insane with the comparision between sony s36 and s46,s36 is really good but I failed to find a place to buy it safely with good return policy and good price...And the S46,SONY is so disappointing not giving S46 a X600 graphics and a bigger fan!! It could be really perfect with that two problems solved.
So I will go for the Asus hehe :asus: ,but W3Vs is as difficult to buy as the S36...
I saw it on page computers for $1,777.29. Plus the asus rebate it could be a good price at $1577...but I am not sure if they do business nicely,I mean once i get a color or bad pixel on that glossy LCD,I am sure to be really annoyed if I can't return/exchange it...
And all the other shops(Agear notebooks,Proportable, they look more professional with ASUS laptops) seems to sale W3V at $1899,that's a big difference ya! :budget:
So,where did you get those nice W3Vs and what's the price? thanks!

You won't be getting Asus' rebate or extended warranty from anyone selling the unit for under $1899. Part of being on Asus' preferred list means you have to sell it for their price. To get the rebate and such, you must buy from a preferred dealer.

my advice, find some place local where you can actually check out the laptop BEFORE you buy it.

Not familiar with anyone in Jersey... if you're near NYC, I suggest dropping Eddie at Geared2Play an email.. I think he's in Brooklyn. Otherwise, we're in NorthEastern, PA..... You're probably better offer asking if there is anyone with a W3 that lives somewhat close to you. I know there are plenty of W3's in the Jersey.. and I'm sure a forum member wouldn't mind meeting you at some local coffee shop or someplace.

Please - it's Justin... really, us Asus fanatics are willing to meet up with others interested in the same thing. You're not going to go to the local best buy and see one of these, but you'd be surprised to find out there are others probably within 30 minutes of you with this same computer that would be willing to show it off in a neutral place.

    ... just an idea.

    Aha Page Computers.

This is the place I got my 1st and white W5A.

I didn't know about this forum + Proportable (and other Asus resellers) so I searched around and found Page Computers. Also found out that they have the lowest prices on W5A.

So I placed an order with them and found out that they didn't have it in stock. So I had to wait like a week until I got it. I also paid for overnight shipping but I got it a week later.

Also they will not accept returns. I tried to RMA it to get refund (of course with 15% restocking fee) and I was informed by their customer service that they will not accept returns but Asus would if there's something wrong with the machine.

So I sold it off on ebay to get my Black W5A from Proportable and am happy with it.

I think you should deal with someone from this forum. I personally had a good experience with Proportable and there are a few other Asus resellers on this forum. Their prices might not be the lowest but at least you know that they are good vendors. I think it's worth to pay little more extra. It's not like the other vendors are overcharging you. They are just charging you MSRP.

    Well good luck!

Sorry for the double post. I didn't see that you are in NJ.

I am also in NJ. N Begen. Just across the bridge and 10 min from NYC.

Where are you located?? if you don't mind me asking.

I haven't seen any Asus resellers in NJ either. I was going to visit to purchase in person but no luck.

There's a place called Safenet in Ridgefield PK, NJ and they sell Asus based notebooks. Their flyer had some Asus barebones that you can configure. Their price was ok. I'm not too sure if they have W3V though.

But if it's within the same state, they will charge 6% sales tax so it's much cheaper to get it from out of states. Even with overnight shipping, it's still cheaper.

I've said this before elsewhere, but I'm in Athens, GA, and travel to Atlanta once or twice a month, so anyone around the north GA area who wants to see a W3V up close and personal can drop me a line anytime.

Maybe somebody should set up a sticky with locations of owners who are willing to evangelize? ;)

I bought mine from Justin as well. :)
    I live in Northern Ohio.

No problems at all, shipping was a day late but, that was FedEx, not PROPortable.

YES!!! I thought that was a term only us Jersey people used. I didn't know native Pennsylvanians actually used it for themselves. You must not be originally from PA.

I live there 3/4 of the year (I go to Bucknell) and let me tell ya, man is that state backwards...

Oh and back on topic: I'm in the process of buying a W3V right now, and I will be going with either Geared2Play.com or StarPcs.net, as they seem to offer the best deals. Though I will say that ProPortable (justin) is the most frequent forum visitor, from the looks of things. So maybe you should factor that into the equation, so to speak.
