I'm currently living in South Korea and I want to buy an ASUS laptop.

My ACER 5672 has been a good laptop, it's been through a lot, numerous operating systems, upgrades and hacks. Hell, I've even brough it back from the verge of death after a nasty BIOS flash. But after all these years it's time to move on and buy a new laptop. I've been specing out and buying ASUS notebooks for friends for years, always wishing I had one of my own. Well now is the time.

I wanted to wait till July when I'll be back home in the states for a few months and ordering a new laptop would be a simple affair but I'm afraid I may not have enough time. The disk drive in my notebook is dead. A recent plague of BSODs indicate that something else inside my notebook is nearing the end of its life as well. I dread the day when my notebook shuts off and won't turn on again is fast approaching.

That being said, I'm looking at getting an N61JQ-X1. Is there a dealer here in Korea I can go to pick one up? Is buying from the US online and paying international shipping my only option? If so, what are my options and who is going to offer me the best deal and most security? I've bought from BTOtech before and was truly impressed with their customer support. I know Gentech and Xotic are also options. If you've bought an ASUS in South Korea I'd love to hear how it went for you. Thanks.

I think buying it from an US retailer and shipping it to korea will be ur best option.... also have u considered Asus G73? its about $400 but it worth spending it since gaming performance is extreme... its even able to beat GTX280M SLI in games when overclocked... For $1400 it is a ripp off..

Thanks for the response. I looked at the G73, the specs and price are nice but it's a little overpowered for me. I'm also looking at something a bit smaller. I've used 17in laptops before and felt they were too big and bulky to carry around. 16in is still a bit big for me but closer to the 15.5 size range I was looking for. I think the N61JQ is a good compromise between the super expensive laptop I want and the $600 laptop I could get by with while cursing it's sluggishness and defects.

Right now I'm looking at buying off ebay as the prices seem decent and the notebooks are in stock.
