this should be in the asus forum, but yea it should be arriving shortly.

Proportable.com has it "backordered" so people were able to purchase it before it came in to secure they get one in the first shipment and not get locked out.

    geared2play.com will have it too

    canadasys / c9 also.

    http://store.agearnotebooks.com/asusw3j.html

is the only online reseller I've found selling it where you can costumize, but they don't have a resellerratings.com rating and aren't under your price...

dunno, there are probably others I dont know of

I looked at that agearnotebook site, and there really isn't that much customization. You cant change how much RAM, hard drive, or whatever. All you can change is the AC adaptor and extended warranty :)

the w3j is an ensemble model. this means that you pretty much can't customize it. they only come preconfigured. there are a few stores that allow customization, but i can't think of them off the top of my head.

Cool - so you can dress your laptop up for Halloween?

$1,799 is the MSRP so that's prob. what you can expect to get it for (especially where it's a new release). You may be able to get a cash discount in places which can save you maybe 2%, but there are some drawbacks to that as well (especially critical that you buy from a reputable dealer if you take this route)

If you truly customize an Ensemblen (meaning proc, HD...etc), you'll void the Asus warranty and have to live with the retailers warranty. There may be workarounds depending upon what you do (ie...if you convert the unit back to stock before sending in to Asus) but that's more trouble than I would want to go through.

You won't find it for $1700 for many, many.... many months... anywhere.... and if you do, you certainly won't find it from anyone reputable, and therefore what is a good salesman from a second rate company?

A "good" salesman from a second rate company is one that pads his pockets at all costs - not one that does the right thing for the customer. You get what you pay for.

geared2play made a preorder list and is giving everyone on it a $100 discount and free shipping :) -- so that's $1699. List is full now though, luckily I'm on it

Of course! I dress mine like a pirate... Yaar! ;)

Still waiting to see any sort of official announcement for this model down under... maybe it's not being released in Australia. Typical.

    Don't we all... :)

I don't think you'll be able to find a new W3J any more. If you really want one perhaps look for a used one on ebay or somewhere else.
