Well I was stumbling around in the dark tonight and managed to trip over a cable going from my TV to the headphone-out on my F3JP. I took everything apart and reassembled the headphone jack and put everything back together, but the outer part of the jack cracked and the pins on the component that make contact with the plug are definitely a little messed up. Stereo audio seems to still work, but there is very little tolerance for moving the plug without channels cutting out or popping occurring. The little red light for SPDIF digital audio out no longer seems to be lit![]()
So my question is, what would be my best bet for getting a new receptor and plastic trim piece that guides the plug into place? Should I contact Asus directly, or are there laptop parts/components outfits that sell this kind of thing? Thanks for any help!

Start at the eStore.

Definitely. Although if you're unlucky the audio board is integrated with the mainboard and you'll end up buying the entire MB... but usually it's discrete.
Look just for "F3" and scroll thru the pages looking for the audio board, more complicated searches usually don't give good results. -
Not much on that site for the F3, closest to what I'm looking for is the $247 MB. I'm going to have my dad the EE look at it and see if it's a common component that he thinks he can source or not. Otherwise I'll have to get in touch with Asus directly. It looks like the headphone connector is discreet from the rest of the MB, FWIW.

You could contact the ASUS service point and ask for the component to be sent to you for OOW repair (out of warranty). It's not going to be expensive, I think, roughly the price it would have on the eStore (if it were available).
Unless it does indeed only come with the motherboard...
