I live in California. Anyone know of any places to purchase the w3v without getting taxed? Thanks in advance!

Is agearnotebooks.com a good place to buy a loptop, i was going to buy it on newegg.com but they are out of stock and they changed there warrenty for the W3V.

Also is the Z63A the same as the W3V, i know it has the same screan and motherboard and the case looks the same so what is the difference???

Hmm ... w3v and z63a are different because of the video card (ati and integrated)

Yup, the Z63A has Intel integrated graphics, 128 mb shared. And the Z63A doesn't have the aluminum lid. If you aren't a gamer, the Z63A might be what you're looking for.

We have W3V's, no tax, plus we will configure the unit for you if the specs aren't good enough.

This might be a dumb question, but I'm kind of new here. Where is it that you will customize the W3V?? I was looking for a place to pick one up if the price is right. Thanks.

BTW, California expects you to report "use tax" on your california return for items you bought out of state without sales tax, but for use in California.

This doesn't mean anything to me. Who is startech? Does he work for a reseller? As I said, I'm new, and don't know about the posters quite yet.

That question was actually directed to anyone who knows what the procedure is to customize a W3V. Thanks for the great reply though.

You can find a full list of asus notebook resellers. The w3v is part of the prebuilt ensemble line. Means your warranty is through asus only. You also have a built on line in which the notebook models start with letter "Z". Those are dealer warranty. If you ask which is better you may get different answers. If you asked me i have my own oppinion. You can find a full list of asus preffered partners here. Its not so long but i think you should look it over. http://usa.asus.com/wheretobuy.aspx

Yes, Star Tech is a reseller. His "signature", or what appears at the bottom of all his posts, includes a link to Star Tech's website, a link to Reseller Ratings (a way to evaluate what customers thought of their experiences with Star Tech), and a sentence that said they will customize all notebooks they sell. I'm sorry if I was unclear.

I'm sorry, I guess I had view signatures turned off. I couldn't see all the souped up rigs that people were boasting about. I knew what a sig was I just assumed it was something with the site and not my user settings. Now maybe I'll learn a little more.
