There are several Canadian companies that show the ASUS G51VX-A1 available for pre-order. That's the Quad Core Q9000 model. However the price is usually between $1950-$2050 CAD (NCIX, Agile Electronics, PVC Online etc..). I find that's pretty expensive compared to some of the US vendors that are selling other models of the G51. I'm wondering why I can only find the G51VX-A1 model in Canada?

Best Buy is selling the 2.0 Ghz Dual Core with a smaller screen resolution for $1000 USD: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9366651&type=product&id=1218092150636

I'm just wondering if anyone knows where to find other models besides the G51VX-A1 in Canada and at a better price? I want to upgrade to 8GB of RAM and when it's all said and done hopefully not pay much more than $2000 CAD for it.

    Any suggestions?

If it follows the trend of G50VT's, then no, it's not happening...

You mean to say there was only one model of the G50 that was ever sold by Canadian companies?

Youre best lucks is to wait for Newegg Canada.

For the G50VT, Newegg Ca is the only store selling the X# model.

Hmmm.... I used to work in sales at local computer store like Canada Computers in Toronto. All these places order the same stuff that comes from the distributor so in likeliness this is the only model you can get for the G51 which I'm pretty sure of, yea I'm pretty sure this is the only model outside the bestbuy one for the G51.

The models you get at bestbuy are almost always specially configured for bestbuy only, to meet their prices and such.

And I thought the G51 has a Max 4GB of memory limit.

Anyways, Infonec has the ASUS G51VX-A1 selling for $1959, this is the place I got my G1S-A1 2+ years ago, anyways these are the specs (odd... I thought this was suppose to have a BR-Drive):

    Ok, thanks for the insight.

Also, the G51VX should support 8GB. There are online vendors that are offering the upgrade to 8GB and every tech spec I've seen on the unit says it has an 8GB max.

I mean to say there was not a single cheap model sold by Canadian companies.
