Hi, sorry for my english, I´m from Spain. Which notebook 12.1" ASUS you recommended me??

My use will be light....edit text (word), web surfing....perhaps playing a game...

A good screen (similar X-black Sony) and very important....a battery life between 4-5 hours.

    Thansk you!!

W5a is a 12" widesdcreen...... and have the glaretype screen you want.

S5a is 12" regular ratio and has a matte type display...... this is actually probably better for what you want.

If you want a wide screen, you can consider the w5a which comes with a webcam, windows xp pro, 2 yrs globe warranty, but the price is expensive than z33a.
z33a's (built on Asus) screen is 4:3, max. memory size only up to 768MB, now the micro sodim ddr2 is very cheap to compare before.
s5a looks like z33a, not a barebone laptop, it comes with a windows, 2 yrs warranty and it uses a external optical drive, but the size is thinner than z33a.

None of them in the class of 12" wxga. Both are overpriced.

The lowest specification model in the Sony S series would be worth considering (some of the earlier S series models are still being sold in the UK) although the Sony will struggle to get to 4 hours on the standard battery. However, the Sony S is 13.3" widescreen.

The S5a is an Asus notebook... there's not a chance in hell that I would suggest a Sony notebook, even though Asus builds them for Sony........ this is NOT that same notebook I'm talking about.

Justin, regarding the W5A, I have searched this forum and I couldnt find the answers to my questions, it seems like not alot of people own this.

    In your opinion:

    1) Is the W5A quieter, noiser, or about the same as the W3V regarding fan noise, is the fan constantly on?

    2) Heat, is it hotter, cooler, or the same as W3V?

    3) What is the average battery life (if it has Power2Gear in email/office mode)

I am comparing it to the W3V because I have one, so I would get a better idea =)

I remember you posting that the 2 year warranty will be gone soon, if I order next week, do I still get the 2 year global warranty and the accessories? Thanks.

I think I already did it in another thread: Acer TM 3002 or Benq Joybook 6000. Both are well priced in Spain if compared with other EU countries. But it's my cost optimisation. If you like Asus and ready to pay for it, then read as many reviews as possible and decide. :) If you want Sony S, then pay for easy-jet flight to Berlin and back, that should be less than 100 euro, and we can get one here for 1300 euro, so it will be cheaper than in spain plus the flight cost. ;)

You can also ask your questions about asus vs sony at www.notebookforums.com!

BTW, try also to google for MSI S260 in Spain!

You could also look at the Asus Z33A, that's a nice 12" Centrino notebook. ;)

    2. less
    3. well standard battery would differ here and in europe, but here, with the 6 cell, you're look at 3-4 hours..... with a 3 cell, 1-2 and with the 9 cell, 6-8...

If you're looking to purchase from us in the US, yes our rules and options are changing. If you need any help with it, please feel free to email me directly.
