Apple's ODM (Original Design Manufacture) is Pegatron, Asus's parent company. So most Asus chiclet are very similar to the ones in Apple's Macbook Pro. Just make sure not to look at Asus's lower end lines.
For example this is the keyboard from the Asus UL80Vt-A2 http://www.amazon.com/UL80Vt-14-Inch-Light-Laptop-Silver/dp/B0034H2YNM/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1266714467&sr=8-4
And this is the MacBook Pro keyboard

AFAIK none of the UL series keyboards are backlit, the G series have backlit keyboards and so do the U series.
I had a MBP5,5 before my current G51J and the ASUS keyboard is squisher than the Apple and it squeaks a bit at times. Also the MBP backlight has much finer control over brightness whereas all the ASUS machines have 3 levels. It's still good tho.
Which Asus is portable and has a keyboard similar to the MacBook...
