I was wondering which Asus models are currently available in Australia. I'm currently in the market to buy a new notebook, and have been very pleased with the value and build quality of several (A6J and V6J) Asus models I've seen so far.

I'm particularly after something like the A6J but with an nVidia GPU, does such a beast exist?

    Thanks in advance...

Yah, I know the X1600 will beat the GF7400... under Windows. Unfortunately, under linux (I'll be dual booting) it's another matter entirely. The machine will only be used for light gaming, but my last experience with ATI's drivers almost brought me to tears.

As such, I'm willing to sacrifice a little performance under WinXP for better stability and performance under linux.

The V6J is a sexy beast... I especially like the 1400x1050 SXGA screen (desktop real estate whore ;)), but it's right on my $3K budget limit.

    Thanks for your input guys.

mind you, V6J has no DVI-D port and no TV-out. But then again V6J has Express Card instead of PCMCIA
