    Hi guys,

My girlfriend is looking to get a new laptop and wants to know what to buy.She wants portability, so 14" is probably the max size. Battery life is a must; the more, the better. She'll need some form of graphics power in that she may be doing some 3D CAD and similar engineering applications. It probably doesn't have to be much, just a little bit more than integrated. Beyond that, XP drivers would be nice but not critical.

The bottom line: maximum battery life with better-than-integrated graphics.

Unfortunately, I haven't kept up with laptops since I bought my W3J last year, so I'm a little out of the loop. I looked over a few summaries, but couldn't find a good practical comparison of battery life. I was hoping you guys could provide some insight and thoughts, since you helped me so much when I was looking (I love my W3J).

    Thanks,
    J

Dell's m1330 is a very nice 13 inch laptop that has a geforce 8400 gs graphics card. It has very good battery life especially if you get the led screen.

Post this in the WNSIB forum, not here. Or get a mod to move it.

If you want max battery life, do not look at an Asus. You will have a hard time getting one over 3 hours of runtime. With my W7S, the tops I've managed is right around 2:50.

I'd look at either the Dell XPS M1330 and the Sony SZ6, overpriced as both may be. I am partial to the SZ6, since you can switch it from dedicated graphics to an integrated GMA card to save power.
