I am new to the forums but I think I am in the right place to get some advice. I was torn between building a new desktop or getting a new laptop. Though a desktop for the price would be better, I just love being able to take my laptop wherever I please.
Here's are my choices. Both factory refurbished, but that's OK.
The Asus G50Vt-X5 for $569 with free shipping from geeks.com.
OR
The ASUS G51VX-RX05 for $719 with free shipping from Buy.com.
OR
Splurg and get a brand spanking new lappy from Best Buy such as the G60JX-RBBX05 (i5 GTS 360m) or G60VX-RBBX05 (core2 GTX 260)
The only difference between the two essentially being the X5 has a 9800M GS and the RX05 has a GTX 260m. With about $150 price gap is it worth the difference?
I used to be a hardcore PC gamer but have moved to the 360 since it needs less constant upgrading. I play games like TF2, Sims 3, ect; but, and also interested in the release of Supreme Commander 2, Starcraft 2, and playing Total War titles.
If the 9800M GS can handle most of those games at high settings and be comfortably playable I think I would rather go with that and put the money towards an extra hard drive. But if everyone thinks it would be better to go with the GTX 260m for futur-proofing let me know.
Also let me know any other opinions.
Besides gaming I also like to use Vue Infinite, 3d Max, and a lot of Photoshop CS4.
Thanks for the input. If anyone ever wants to game on the 360 my gamertag is unsh4v3nb4g.

If you were going pure gaming, I'd have said to go with the G51vx. Its main strength is the graphics card, and the only real difference between it and the G60vx is screen size and a a slightly different processor.
However, if you're aiming to be doing other things than gaming, I'd say you might as well get the G60jx. The i5 will benefit you in productivity settings, and, who knows, you might be able to upgrade to full blown i7 if you're lucky.
Which ROG Asus laptop should I get?
