Pros and cons. I'd love to here from the owners of these models. Besides the fact that one is a 13" and the other is a 14".

There are two large topics in this forum, one for each. You may find detailed comparisons over there...

    Additionally, F8Va is not a single model. It had A1, B1 and C1 sub-models.

The F8 series are replaced with the N80, so it's literally an older generation. However, gaming-wise, the F8 will still perform better than the F6.

I don't think the N80 is replacing the F8 series. The F8's have higher specs than the N80. F8 is more like the desktop replacement with a relatively powerful GPU.

If you get the F8Va, the biggest advantage is you will get a 1440x900 screen.

Unfortunately, it is. The F8 series are EOL. It was never really a desktop replacement, but more of a budget gaming system.

True, I'll have to agree with that.

It is not bad for light gaming.

I have an F8Sv-A1. It's a great laptop I think... but you'd definitely be better off getting one of the new N80's. My laptop was one of the earlier in the series... so it came pretty crippled (spec wise, 160 hd, 1 gb ram) compared to the later generations, and more so to the new models, obviously.

The only thing I've noticed so far is the left click on the touchpad has become kind of unreliable. But that's nothing compared to how unreliable the left click on the supplied mouse has become. Not a huge deal about the mouse (was free after all) but rather disappointing about the touchpad button, it's only been about a year. Oh yeah, the speakers suck. I'm pretty sure the new N80's at least have name brand Altec Lansing's.

Oh yeah, and one of the rubber feet came off a little while ago. The glue is still on there so I simply stuck it back on and it hasn't fallen off since. This is kind of expected, especially since I put and pull it out of a backpack almost everyday. If you loose the rubber foot though.. the thing slides around and is almost impossible to use on a desk.

Other than that, the quality is great! Phew... that's a lot of typing for 2 really minor things :D

I was also deciding between N80, N50 and Asus F8VA-4S011C. The major requirements were screen resolution and CPU. My F8Va is T9400 with 4GB ram, both the N80 and N50 on offer were P8600 with 3GB of ram. G50 was out of the question because it was out of my budget. So the obvious choice is the F8Va.

Really, CPU makes little difference. I doubt you would see any difference btw the P8600 and T9400 in pretty much any real world situations.

The difference between those is not much that it'll set them apart unless you're a performance freak.
