I am about to buy a C90s when I gave Asus a call today to get some detail on the specs as well as future upgrade potential when the Technical Adviser informed me the GPU memory on both the 256 and 512 versions of the 8600M GT is DDR2 but many web sites state it is DDR3 VRAM so I ask those with this notebook, which is it or can it be one or the other depending on the reseller.
I'd like to know so I don't buy what I do not want/need.
This site claims DDR3

This one allows either config, DDR2 or DDR3

Yes there are 2 versions of 8600GT, a DDR2 and GDDR3 version. GDDR3 is a die shrinked version of DDR2 therefore runs cooler, allowing for higher clock speeds.

Well if you look at nvidia's page for the GeForce 8600M, it states that it's " Designed for high-speed GDDR3 & cost-competitive DDR2 memory".

Can a DDR2 512 card be exchanged for the DDR3 256 card? -
In the C90S yes...in the G1/2 no (or 99% of notebooks in fact)...

Now where can I buy the 8600 GT 256 DDR3 card at?

Part # 90-C1CIZA-HXBN00Z and no one has them. Nice.
Which is it?!?
