I need to update my fiance's old HP dv3t.
I want to grab her an Asus, but she only uses the laptop for streaming live tv from laptop to tv, skyping and browsing.
Does any Asus come with decent webcam on it ?

You can get a USB webcam for around $50 MAXIMUM that should be infinitely better than any built-in camera on a laptop. The cameras that are built-in are as basic as they can be...I guess to save space. I'm sure even a $10 USB camera would be an improvement over the built-in cameras.
There are USB webcams that have auto focus (I don't think any of the built-in cams focus at all..I really don't think there's room for a lens to move to focus if it's in the bezel of a screen).
I just did a quick search and saw this Microsoft camera on sale for half MSRP price.. (link below)......BTW, I'm a photographer and size does matter with optics - there's no getting around physics...it's not anything like making smaller processors.
This one has a built-in microphone too.....in my experience the USB mics are FAR better than the built-in mics on laptops (and much better than the mics that plug into the microphone input as well). I didn't look that closely, but there are a lot of USB cameras and I'd have to believe that just about any of them would be better than the built-ins ...(not so sure about the $3 or $4 cameras - you get what you pay for)...But the larger the lens, well, that's a good start.
The number of megapixels is NOT important in digital cameras (just the only number most consumers are aware of, so the camera makers stress MP for advertising) - 2MP is plenty for using Skype or anything like that). I noticed that some will also record whatever is seen if that matters to you. HD TV's use around 2MP so when you see little pocket cameras with 15MP, they really don't accomplish much other than if you want to make very large prints (not a factor with a web-cam).
Bottom line is I would NOT base a decision on which laptop to get on what the quality of the camera is - none of them are very good (to understate my feelings), and if a USB camera breaks they are inexpensive enough to replace - if the camera that's in a laptop bezel fails, it can be expensive to repair once it's out of warranty...(just not worth fixing at all IMO...not even if it's under warranty if it means being without the computer for a few weeks)
From my experience, every built-in camera I've ever used has been bad or completely useless . If I wanted to use a webcam I would definitely buy a USB stand-alone camera.
Here's the link to the web-cam from Amazon, but I first saw it at the B&H Photo website and B&H doesn't sell junk...they are a high end camera store. The advantage of Amazon is the shipping is free. Returns and exchanges are good at both places. This camera might be "overkill", but if you want the "best" it looks like $50 will do it. Compared to the cost of laptops, really not that much - besides, if you just buy a laptop maybe the built-in camera and mic might be adequate for your girlfriend's uses -
Amazon.com: Microsoft LifeCam Studio 1080p HD Webcam - Gray: Electronics
Edit: saw this one I didn't notice before - same MSRP, but sells for around $20 more than the Microsoft - seems to have even more bells and whistles.

If I was looking for a good integrated webcam,I would just go to a PC Store or whatever and see what they have available. As far as the activities you stated goes, any Asus should do the trick. But you should check the webcam quality for yourself,at least thats what I would do.
Which model comes with good webcam ? 13''-15''
