    The G51VX looks uglier to me. The G51J actually looks decent in grey, but the blue version looks like a 2007 Toshiba.

    considering that pretty much everyone who called to ask about the lid thought the second one was ugly i will have to say the first is more attractive. who designed #2? looks like the work of someone who just did it to get it over with. i have no clue why they did not keep the original.

    I have to say the first. Like an earlier post, it actually looks really good in person but the second is alright. Still for the 15-16 inch models I liked the white G60 without the side lights best.

    ^ are u refering to Padme and his/her post? cuz i was wandering the same thing, ive seen like 3-4 threads and her name is invisible, and there seems to be no post...

    TOTALLY true, one of the cons for getting the G51 was that alien blue lid, but after viewing it in real life, i love it, more so than the white version.



    btw SS, what happened to ur gtx 280m sager (M570TU)? what up with using that 6600 go now?

    ^ haha yea, watching a movie while the lids closed and its hooked up to my plasma, can be annoying. nevertheless, i put someover teh lid to cover it haha

    Purple would look amazing. Maybe a very dark "wine" looking purple. That would blend with the backlit KB.

    Oh and I didn't know you can add CSS in these forums.

    Having owned both laptops I gotta say both look better in person that what most pictures show.

    And having that said... I dig the G51J panel much more. The Alien look is good too, but I feel the new blue/purpleish design fits better the newer G51 black inner design. I liked how the alien lid looked on my old G50vt though.

    And yeah, the sidelights need to go. Though I like em in white color...

    I have the G51J lid on my G60Vx, and I hate it. It will be covered with Vinyl at some point.
