Hey guys, I have an Asus g73 which I can still return for a refund. I just noticed that Sony released a new Vaio laptop F series with an i7, nvidia card, 6gb ram and blu-ray drive. I'm leaning towards getting this Vaio. What do you think and has anyone here purchased it yet. There at Best Buy right now.

Return and wait max 2 months, the market is going to completely change with new graphic card, bringing the cost of the older ones experientially down. (wait for nvidea to take there turn)

I'm guessing you are looking at the VPCF126FM/B model. While the CPU is slightly better than the G73, there is less ram and a lower res screen (compared to anything except the BB G73 models).

But most importantly, the nvidia card is only the GT 330M, which does not come anywhere near the 5870 in terms of sheer graphical prowess. If gaming is your thing, and your unit doesnt have any GSODs or PSODs or RSODs, then definately stick to the G73.

    My two cents.

I would keep the g73. If you want more processing power, you could always overclock it. Check my signature.

Why do you want to return it first of all?

You want to buy a sony with an nvidia card? Sure, it'll work great ... so long as it works. Have you ever dealt with either sony or nvidia for support?

I was actually going to purchase a Vaio before the Asus G73 but the last model i7 from sony was discontinued so I purchased the G73, which I like very much. I have always had Sony products from PS PS2 PS3 and own the Sony LCDs. I had Vaio computers in the past and never had any problems. Anyway Thanks for the input guys I have already purchased the Vaio vpcf126fm and it is sweet, plays games with no problem. I'll post my thoughts in the proper section. Thanks again guys.

Notebook/pc market changing every 3to6 month .. there isn't enough money to keep up with it.
Buy what does the job you want it to do and nothing more.

With that GPU like comparing a BMW to a Porsche as far as gaming goes. CPU unless you have a stop watch no one could tell the diff. Less RAM. I always found Sony only excelled at 13.3. Other than that market others made better at better prices. Oh and Sony was not price friendly w/13.3 either.

Do what you want because what matters to you is what matters. I am just not seeing apples compared to apples here.

Frankie stop reading the forum wait for your G73 to arrive and enjoy it. :D :)

Exactly, I use 3d programs that I had for years and still work for me, I also like to play a few games here and there when I don't use my PS3. I mainly play Mass effect 2 and Modern Combat 2 on the PC side. This new Vaio I purchased runs everything very nice with no problems. Very sexy machine and the blu-ray movies look out of this world, It's a Keeper for me. :)

I always had Vaio computers from the early 90s and is a brand I never had issues with, in fact I still have one of the very first Vaio desktop and monitor. But when I was shopping for a laptop, BB had the Vaio i7 on display but was discontinued and sort of bummed me out. Then I came across the Asus G73 which had an i7 among other good things and purchased this instead. A few weeks later Sony or BB released the VPCF126 or F12 and I jumped on it and no regret returning the G73. The Asus G73 is a very nice laptop and I loved it, but way to big for my needs (Physically).
