I know if you buy an Eon18 branded Clevo from Origin they run the thing through a 72 hour burn in and check off a list of 100 things that could be funky, do any of these ASUS resellers offer the same deal? I'm wondering how many of these issues with failing backlights, dead hardrives, keyboard lag, spacebars that dont space etc, wouldnt have been seen if a rigorous pre-test was performed before the ship. I know, I know, everybody wants theirs yesterday, and Origin will charge you a thousand bucks more for a PC, but I would rather wait, maybe even pay a 'few' bucks more to know that the machine I recieve will hopefully work without an RMA. So, which resellers are user friendly in this regard?

I don't think the resellers of Asus open the package unless u upgraded some components while ordering. In that case I would assume after upgrading they would test thoroughly before repacking and shipping it u..

I guess I should have read up to page 98 on part three of the mega thread to hear that Gentech and Xotic will do it if requested to since search didnt give me that information. Does'nt say how thorough a job they are willing to do however. Since a bunch of resellers didnt jump onto this thread and say " WE'LL DO IT, WE'LL DO IT!" as a selling point, it appears they would rather just ship the things out as quick as possible. But its nice to know some will check your machine out if you ask them to.

Btotech.com says that when buying from them:
" All system components are tested individually even if the buyer does not purchase windows. We use a software bootable tester that tests the cpu, memory, main board, controllers, harddrives, optical drives, video, even the psu. The whole testing process takes about 3 hours from an automated program."

Ken @ Gentech offered to test mine since ppl are having problems with the video card. Asus is probably pumping them out as fast as they can and maybe QC is down alittle? Gentech has my business now because of good support. Not that nothing can go wrong with the cpu in the future just nice to know they are trying to get you the best product they can. I was going to call that same day and ask or upgrade the wireless card (cheap upgrade) just to get them to test the G73 :)

I can imagine Ken rubbing his hands together gleefully.

"I get to play video games all day today to test the hardware. I love my job!"

+1 for Gentechpc, by the way, because Ken is that awesome.

I agree if the pay was right..testing cpu and measuring games ect ..would be fun. This coming from a non cpu geek who secretly wishes he had the "geek" talent :)
